I wonder how many would be solved if the people that saw/knew something actually spoke up about it and helped out the police.

Guess we'll never know...

The national homicide clearance rate is just about the same. I think TV/movies cause people to greatly overestimate the number of cases solved

Is it that hard when they rap about their killings and brag about it on social media?

Per the Just Baton Rouge facebook page “WBRZ failed to mention that the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office has an astonishing 90% clearance rate on homicides for 2022.”

If the perps in one set of murders subsequently get killed by different murderers, is it considered “cleared”?

A lot of the shite in NBR is tied to the cycle of revenge.

that seems high.

of course solving the case is only part of the process. when they are released on 25c bond or given 3 day sentences, it doesn't really matter how many you solve.

EBRSO is working a lot lower volume of murders and the population will actually help when questioned about those.

To be fair, BRPD cannot pull a lead out of their arse. If the people who know who killed someone would come forward, a lot of murders would be cleared. When you show up and nobody saw anything, not much you can do.

It would probably be lower without public involvement.

That's got to be close to 300% better than Chicago's clearance rate, last I saw they were averaging close to 15%

There was a story on the news last night interviewing the grandmother of the BR toddler who was shot and killed in his bed. She said people keep coming to her and saying "I know who did it but I'm afraid to say anything." She told them don't tell me that. Why would you tell me that?

Heartbreaking.

Ok, what's your point? I think the solve rate is good for what they have to work with.
