A Baton Rouge-based physician assistant pleaded guilty Tuesday (Nov. 27) in the U.S. Middle District Court for his role in distributing more than 40,000 “medically unnecessary” oxycodone pills, according to the Department of Justice.

Christopher William Armstrong, 44, of Prairieville entered guilty pleas on charges of conspiracy to distribute oxycodone, a Schedule II controlled substance.

quote:

He told authorities that he had logged into the clinic’s computer system and without authorization created fraudulent prescriptions for substances such as oxycodone. Armstrong then forged the signatures of physicians at the clinic or made them unknowingly sign them.

He distributed the fake prescriptions to people who he instructed to fill the prescriptions at pharmacies and return the pills to him in exchange for cash. Armstrong told law enforcement that between May 2009 to March 2014 he had made fraudulent prescriptions for at least 40,470 oxycodone pills.

That is 8094 pills a year. 674 pills a month. And roughly 22 pills a day.

Lock that mofo up for life. Oxycodone should be banned.
The deaths and addictions caused by this single drug are off the charts.

What do you mean acting independently? He was stealing and forging doctors signatures on scripts.

Sorry, but life sentences for drug distribution should not happen in a free country.

It said he’d write the scripts and pay them to bring back to him. If he was selling them why go through that step?

He may have been a middle man for a few dealers buying large quantities. Getting a bunch of people to go pick up smaller scripts for a fee is less noticeable than prescribing 5,000 oxys to Mr. W.B. Rick.

I know you have an inherent bias against them, but completely agree with you

I'd have expected the LP, not the AP. Or is the LP only just a little methy?
