There was a TG&Y in the Broadmoor Shopping Center, between Andrew’s Rexall Drugs and A&P. Spent countless hours in there.

Correction - the A&P was next to the drug store and TG&Y next to the A&P.

We had thw Eckerds TG&Y and WinnDixie set up in Metairie corner of Transcontinental and W. Esplanade. We would buy the birthday party presents from there. Loved TG&Y

45 records, Matchbox Cars (when they were made in England and not cheap Chinese crap), and model cars and airplanes.

Saw what ended up being my first wife when I passed in the parking lot and she was staring back at me. Went inside to flirt, pretended to be looking for a watch. Ended up buying a watch I had no use for, from her. Dated and ended up married, all from window shopping.

What about Service Merchandise did BR have those?

Houma had one near Southland Mall across from Sears. When MLK started popping, Service Merchandise moved to MLK across from Walmart.

After it closed, it sat vacant for a few years then Bed Bath and Beyond moved in after it was subdivided.

Best Buy took the other portion and the last portion went to Texas Roadhouse.

When Bed Bath and Beyond closed, Cavenders moved in.

Every time I think of Bed Bath and Beyond, I would ask them where the Beyond section was.

My mom would let me get a pack of 1989 Donruss baseball cards every time we went shopping there.

Did you ever pull a Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card?

still have a couple of old spools of thread that belonged to my grandmother with TG&Y price tags on them. I have a small bottle of Bacardi rum with the Eckerd price tag (2.19) on it from my Grandparent’s pantry

I still have my first baseball glove that we bought at the Sherwood store. Has $4.99 written inside the heel. That would’ve been 1972

The store was originally called Kids Stuff, a toy/hobby shop. It was located on Jefferson Highway between Capitol Heights and Government St. Joe D's was next door to it. I'm pretty sure it is not there anymore. I don't know when it was taken down. Maybe someone here can remember when.
For those curious, it was a real airplane, Globe Swift GC-1.

National was way on the other end (east). Drug store was on the west end.

We had a TG&Y in Central. It was where the home and garden section of Tractor Supply is now. Remember it well.

Right next to Winn Dixie and the best chicken in the area was Danny's Fried Chicken right behind the Central Pharmacy. Burger Chalet was down the road on Sullivan. Hated when that place closed.
