They still do steaks on Thursdays? I remember going in once and all the steaks were out in the open unrefrigerated sitting in bus tubs. I was dropping my husband off and had gone in for a second. Before I left, I threatened his life if he got drunk and consumed one of those steaks.
Who knows - maybe they were marinating - but it looked horrible.

I spent a lot of time at Sammy's on N Foster drive hustling pool, while my dad drank with his buddies up front late 70's to 80's

Ther were a handful of The Racks. One on Greenwell springs, one on Dallas drive, and one in Prairieville at Airline and Perkins. I believe there was another one, but it escapes me.

Great name, similar to the old "Ukulele Bar & Grill" that was somewhere in South Florida.
Best bar in the USA tho was "The Castaways" around Hollywood, Florida. Hemingway drank there, as did Jimmy Hoffa. What made it great was the eclectic famous folks that drank there along with average schlubs like me and everybody got along.
Now you would have VIP stuff, lots of security and enterouges for the famous and folks like me would not be allowed in.

That doesn't ring a bell. I'm sure it changed names many times. I started going there in '92 and stopped in '95. The last girl I walked out of there with was there with a group modeling lingerie that they were also selling. She was a 22 y/o single mom with an incredible body and I was 18. She taught me a few things, including what crabs were.

There was a bar on the north side of the Flannery/Choctaw intersection that changed names and couple times.
Lambert's RBD was on the south side. It was open from around 97 to 02. It is the office for a construction company now.

Giamanco's son is in the planning stages of a opening smaller more casual version using his father's recipes. That's all I can say for now
