100,000+ people in a parish of 400,000+ people is not a small minority. That's a massive chunk of people!
City of BR 228K approx.
St. George estimated at 107K
The entire parish has about 446K.
BTW, St. George would be the fifth largest city in the state, we aren't a small minority.

Now you would think that these people would reach out and try to work with St. George leaders to accomplish a better parish

Maybe they should read between the lines and give them the separate school district then.
They only wanted the city after being stopped twice at the state level from starting up an ISD.
Of course that would mean some people in EBR having their personal fiefdoms reduced so it is a nonstarter.

They have already tried to change the state law to stop St. George, and are planning to do so again.

Dear Responsible Inhabitants of Baton Rouge,
It's time to admit it is simply over with. Let them have it and I suggest you move on to better places to live. If that means forming your own city, then so be it. The topics discussed and information provided in this thread are unfathomable to your neighbors to the near west. Nothing like this is remotely discussed here. It's insane that the capital city has devolved like this.
Signed,
Former Baton Rouge citizen now living in Lafayette

do you expect white people to do it? Why aren't there a bunch of black developers lining up to revitalize NBR?

That's my question. We have Southern University right here and it has no doubt produced very educated, successful and wealthy alumni of color. Why aren't these people reinvesting and rebuilding North Baton Rouge? They complain about grocery stores and fruit stands closing but aren't addressing exactly why they are closing.

Just went back and looked at the sources of their definitions that are the core of their race relations policy. It's nothing but SJW sources. They couldn't even use Merriam-Webster for the definition of racism:
RACISM
Racism is a complex system of beliefs and behaviors,
grounded in a presumed superiority of the white race.
These beliefs and behaviors are conscious and unconscious;
personal and institutional; and result in the oppression of
people of color and benefit the dominant group, whites. A
simpler definition is racial prejudice + power = racism.

The only somewhat reputable source is Center for Assessment and Policy Development and that was only used to define one word - racial equity.
This is some serious fringe neo-Marxist material that is being used to define and influence government policy. This is pretty troubling.

Actually here is what's going to happen.
Insiders will wait until the Mayor and Governor get a big enough tax rebate package together so they can take advantage of it, and come and develop a project inside the NBR Eco Zone and make a killing off of it.
The project will be touted as a grandiose project that will save NBR and provide 100s if not 1000s of jobs. Pols will take credit for the project, the humble developers will tell us they are doing it only for the public good, and the taxpayers will be fleeced once again.

I'm not gonna waste my time reading that crap. Did they identify "racism" as a area of concern under every one of those topics?

Baton Rouge, it's been real. See you in heaven.

I'm as serious as a heart attack when I say their influence in the EBRP govt is dangerous. If you go read their definitions laid out in the racial relations section, you can see exactly what I mean (pgs 135-140).
It's setting them up to start doing some nefarious shite through their own self-righteousness. This is 100% about revenge.
They haven't listed one definition that wasn't from a radical progressive organization.

With regards to there being no grocery stores in NBR, consider the reason for any store even on the fringes having to have multiple security guards present all the time. No business pulls out of successful, i.e. profit making, areas.
