Actually my reasoning had nothing to do with the murder rate. I just wanted to be in a better place. My quality of life improved dramatically when I moved. And I moved to a much larger city, not the country.

But yeah, I’d consider moving to a safer place a positive thing. Guess that makes me a pussy.

Blame the people who didn't get out and go vote. If the people who went out to vote in the presidential election would have gone back out and vote in the runoff, she would probably not be mayor.

Let’s hope Da Mayor isn’t keeping up with other cities.

For example. Stockton, CA, is offering $1000 monthly stipends to the people most likely to kill someone.

Broome’s offered a variant of this so far, but that’s to the next of kin of some piece of shite who is likely to murder someone.

If John Delgado doesn’t frick over St George, he might actually have made the runoff and beaten Broome.

Wonder how many more will be making the move to Houston from Baton Rouge

I just spent the last week there and I don’t see how you deal with taking a hour to get anywhere. I was impressed that both my cousins I visited in different areas of the city had 4br/3.5bt houses with a pool that only cost them around $250k

The only place I would move to is the Heights only if I worked close by. I would also live on Lake Conroe if I never had to commute to the city.

What if all of the people who worked in WBR, Iberville and elsewhere on the west side, had reasons to live, shop and eat over there? Why is there not growth and development in WBR Iberville or Point Coupee? It’s not that hard to build a damn super strip mall like Juban in Addis or New Roads..

I wonder if there is anyway to look at real estate listing based on asking price and gauge the trends in how long each segment’s inventory are sitting on the market.

I’ve been looking around and it’s astonishing how long some higher end houses have been actively listed and doing price cuts and still not sold. Either Willow Grove and the new filings in University club are impacting the rest of the local market or more high end purchasers are going elsewhere.

Anyone work in the industry and can tell if a change is taking place?

I just like to point out that the city gets a lot of undeserved shite, especially its food and nightlife scenes. However, there is not enough condemnation that can he given for the current regime, especially for their continued handling of the crime which is beyond out of control.

There are some things this city is actually pretty good at for a town its size, but crime, traffic, education, and competent ethical governance are certainly not among them.

This actually might be the real problem.. The lack of quality people to run for these positions.

No my reason is even ignoring the insane murder rate, the city is generally a giant shithole with high taxes and nothing to show for it.

I read somewhere that there has been a 40% increase in gun violence since Broome took office.

Baton Rouge is not even that bad. North of Florida boulevard is rough. Compared to the rest of the state, BR is really not that bad.

I’ve noticed the same. Even University Acres, where houses often sold without ever being marketed aren’t moving. I do know a prominent realtor in the LP that said their phones were jammed with calls the Monday after Baton Rouge’s mayoral election. Flooded homes or not the flight hit overdrive. I took a real bath on my home in 2017 in what has always been a popular area when I downsized. Now I’m wondering if the house I bought will sell when I retire and GTFO of BR

Is this racist?

The police are doing their job. The parents are going to have to do their job too. It can't be no one-sided street here. Everyone is going to have to do their job. If they don't, Baton Rouge is in trouble

Would be interesting to see some year over year comparisons to see what the EBR and sourrounding parish trend lines look like.

Maybe someone in the industry will see this and run some numbers. I’m sure the info is out there.
