I was murdered in Baton Rouge in 2018, so this post hits close to home.

Murders may be down, but overall crime is up. Robberies and auto thefts and gun thefts way up. Gardere hoodlums are hitting up the Lakes subdivisions off of Bluebonnet weekly.

I just spent the last week there and I don’t see how you deal with taking a hour to get anywhere. I was impressed that both my cousins I visited in different areas of the city had 4br/3.5bt houses with a pool that only cost them around $250k
My wife has a 40 minute commute on a good day. But it's because of the nice houses relatively in expensive and general lower cost of living compared to Louisiana is why people have moved out to the burbs of Houston. Don't forget the amazing schools in Houston area.
People bellyache on here because of the high property taxes but there is no state income tax so it's a wash. Then you have amazing schools, car insurance is 1/2 compared to Louisiana, house insurance is cheaper as well, so is electric and the list goes on...

The EBRSO substation opening on Burbank helped lessen the murders in the Gardere DMZ but all it did was scatter the roaches to other neighborhoods nearby. And the high end houses along Highland are NOT selling. I was told that the one enclave of high dollar new builds just past Kenilworth is one family.
