I'm going to go ahead and be the bad guy here. Clubs don't work in BR, and here's why:
Rags, 600 Main, The M. All started out as swanky clubs. Then over time (some weeks to months) the black community would take it over. Not saying there's anything wrong with that, but an overwhelming amount of black people in front of an establishment makes people avoid it. And so they now get the reputation of being a "black people bar" and no one other than black people will go there. Once again, nothing wrong with black people, but most places can't keep the lights on by catering to just one group of people. Thus, the life cycle of a "Club" in BR.

It's absolutely a conflict of interest. If he had any class he would step aside on issues like those, but it didn't happen. And he obviously got away with it.
If all politicians did this, we'd be leaderless.
Hmm.. Not a bad idea now that I think about.

But seriously, almost every politician with business ventures does shite like that from US Senators to BR Council.

what sign on east boyd?
LL's bitch, JOnes, thinks the no left turn sign at east boyd approaching Highland is a recent one.
It's been there since at least 2001. If it was removed and put back so be it. But I remember it going up.

Jonesssie.. Seriously. One of us should go see what the install date on the current sign is. That maybe a few years old and can settle it right fast.

1. daughter
2. himself
3. anything that gets his name in the paper
4. getting himself elected Mayor
5. anything that makes him money
6. his district WHENEVER IT BENEFITS HIM
7. his bidnesses
in that order.
FIFY. BTW, not just throwing that out there. I had an issue that required attention (I live in his District) and tried to get him on the phone or to schedule a meeting. Nope. He had zero interest in speaking to me and flat told his Assistant that I could tell it to her or not get help. As I have said on here before, he is a Councilman and not the POTUS. He could have swung a five minute phone call.

well we arent talking about black clubs in here. some of those places he mentioned were owned by black people and catered to a black crowd(rap and hip hop music). the first people that started going to the M bar were black people and it stayed that way.
maybe he is right concerning the black clubs but literally none of the other places mentioned in here closed because they were considered black clubs. electronic/dance music, if anything, deters black people.
the life cycle of the clubs in BR were pretty simple
open
realize the city cant support a club

I know for 100% certainty that it was there post Katrina.
2006. Because the only apt I could find right after the storm was in little bangkok in the back of tiger land and had to travel Boyd daily.

Now that's just stupid. He's not cheating on his wife. If it was someone with him looking at venues it's probably a current bar manager or someone in the industry as a consultant. You are a shite stirrer for that. I've known the dude about 30 yrs and disagree with him on St George and other shite. But the last thing he's doing is cheating on his wife.
Sure, whatever you say. I never said he was cheating, but to pretend that the "last thing" a fricking politician, one who is clearly into the nightlife scene, wouldn't have something going on the side is naive. As stated by another poster, he is seen around with other women.

sorry BR but you dont have a lot of 30 year olds in BR making 6 figures willing to live downtown when there are cheaper and better options elsewhere
Would disagree. We (and other) petrochem companies have been hiring engineers like crazy the past 5-10 years to make up for a retiring workforce. We're starting them off at 22yrs old in the 6-figure range and nearly every one of them who we've moved here from other states has tried to look downtown for living before settling and renting elsewhere in town. Granted, we're talking 100's of people and not thousands, but I would venture to say the 30 year old 6-figure crowd is overrepresented in Baton Rouge compared to similar sized cities.

Oh boy... You just turned this into a Dallas and Houston are better than Baton Rouge thread. Those folks will be stampeding in here any minute.
