Just heard a nurse from BR General saying they got hit by a "cyber attack" and cannot access electronic medical records. Doing everything manually.

Can anyone confirm this?

That is what I was told when my wife was in their ER the other day.

Registration was down and they were having a lot of issues with getting test results back and other things because of it.

No every vendor with extensive digital records should have a good IT provider who guarantees protection against these things.

From Reddit

Some vendor of the state got popped

LINK

Up to 40 states with websites run by the same company, Geographic Solutions, are currently affected by the malware attack, but state officials said Louisiana's unemployment page is being prioritized for restoration.

I wonder if the newer nurses even know how to do things manually?

When you come up with a system that is 100% guaranteed to stop this you let me know.

Give them a few beers and they’ll probably do it manually and several other ways.

And thus the issue.

Even if you have a system that has all the patches and normal security holes fixed, all it takes is one dumbass opening the wrong email to spread something like this.

It not that they stop 100% it's that they are insured in the event something gets by them. You essentially are paying for something you need anyway.
