How about instrumental instead of detrimental?

But the thing that got to me was, in addition to having to have AND use a code word, was

before pressing a panic button to call police

How the level of lawlessness is defined: the presence of a panic button.

How many places of business have such a button AND the police know how to respond to it?

Perhaps beneficial was the intended word.

Almost everywhere I've worked has had a panic button. Most alarm companies install them. I've never had one that went straight to police. It notifies the alarm company to call the police.

Maybe code word was actually two and indeed was "very detrimental"

And she's the spokeswoman?

I work with a guy who does this all the time. Today, he said "In retrospect to this assignment," instead of "with regards" or something.

It’s not like BRPD is Bunkie PD. It’s the damn Capitol city of LA and a decent sized PD at that. I am certain there are officers with a command of the English language working there. How do you let this idiot become the PIO?

Since the LHSAA started hammering schools (for bench clearing brawls) removing games - many coaches have instituted and practice code words to clear the field and stand down. A couple I’ve heard are ABANDON SHIP, Dead bird and Water water

Apparently in 2021 Ms. Spears won an award for a crimestoppers poster.

Crime Stoppers would like to congratulate Northeast High student, Savannah Spears!
Savannah is the winner of the ICARE and Crime Stoppers poster contest. Special thanks to all of the students who participated.

Code word, not to be confused with the safe word, which is always "banana"

Looks like our guy is a repeat offender from less than 2 years ago.
16 years old when he robbed the last restaurant.

I wonder if Trudy was the judge.
