Police usually show up to a scene with .40 caliber handguns if the suspect has body armor and superior firepower such as an AR, they can easily inflict damage. Especially if they're military trained.

i still dont know if it is clear on what the initial 911 call was about. There is some speculation that the shooter actually made the first call.
