Basin Bridge nightmare check in

Been at a standstill for 30 minutes. According to Waze they're landing a helicopter on the bridge for a rollover crash

But how did people go from Highland to I-10/Mississippi River Bridge? We weren't allowed left turn onto or off of Government in order to merge onto the bridge. Got routed all through downtown, told to find North Blvd in BFE, and eventually made a spin around the capital to get on I-110 South to then merge on the Miss river bridge to go west.
I don't recall any of this horseshite in years past.
Trying to go west and you can literally touch the on ramp, but no left turns allowed. Go east further into Baton Rouge to hope to return to the lane of travel that on ramps you to the bridge.
No. Had to go around the capital, see Southern, before coming back south to merge onto the bridge.
Is Nicholson the only direct route to the bridge?

Yep. That was horrible. I’m just getting home in Lafayette. I was stuck on bridge for about 1.5 hours. Worse delay on bridge for me in my life time. I saw the chopper aways ahead land then take off.

I was there for 1 hour and 20 minutes. When we started up people had to go knocking on windows everyone was falling asleep.

No you didn't, you missed your turn. They actually have it blocked off in a way that makes it very simple to get onto the bridge going west.
