You do know you linked to an article about LNG in the middle of winter saying gas prices are going up as they do seasonally?

This is the OT. He didn't expect anyone to actually read the article.

Ideologically, democrats wish gas was $100/ gallon.

Exactly. They need high gas prices to build support for their "climate change" plan to make us slaves to Chinese batteries and solar panels.

Or he just linked the first thing he googled and didn't read it himself.

It does mention LNG could force crude usage to go up but...

quote:

JP Morgan (NYSE: JP) Mestimates that gas-to-oil switching could lead to an incremental demand of 750,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil

750,000 more barrels of crude used per day isn't really shite when something like 100 million barrels is used daily globally.

Its also a 2 month old article

How much of that is due to people screaming prices will go to that and creating an expectation?

Zero. That's not how markets work.

Oil and its products(for purposes of our discussion, mainly gasoline and diesel) are commodities. With more money in the economy, overall, there is more demand for everything. "Everything" gets transported on finite roads using mainly diesel fuel. Therefore, demand for that commodity just goes up across the board.

Now, you have an administration (a political party, really, but this isn't the poliboard so I'll leave it at that) that is virulently anti-oil and gas (and coal). They actively impose policies intended to make it more difficult/costly to produce oil, gasoline and diesel fuel. (ETA: They want there to be less oil produced.)

So go back and read the first paragraph again (demand is rising). Then read the second paragraph (the supply is being either artificially restricted or additional, IMHO unnecessary costs are being imposed - either way, same effect on the market). Then recall your basic schooling and the lesson about supply and demand.

That's how you get $7 gasoline.

And nobody wanted to purchase a refinery in Belle Chasse because there was no market for oil and gas refineries.

I smell a rat.

Time to drill baby drill, and start producing more oil and gas.

Unless, there is more to it.

It's a finite resource. One day it will be $100 a gallon, so it's easily possible.

Technically, it’s a renewable resource, it just takes a long fricking time.

And gas will never be $100/gallon.

OPEC starts to ease back on the supply and the price shoots up.

Thanks to Brandon, the US is no longer in a good position to fill the void and take market share.
