Anybody here actually pay attention to the baseball card market right now, or have any current experience in this particular topic?

If anyone has a good pricing guide they use I'd appreciate some info. Don't know much about the current market, except that for some reason baseball cards have become pretty popular again. Trying to appraise a rather large card collection at the moment.

Everyone wants PSA ratings, now. That takes time to get them all evaluated.

Chuck’s field of dreams in Albany, La. I brought my grandson in there for some Pokémon cards. I’ve got football cards I collected when I was a kid. Chuck told me what they was worth and I even brought a couple packs ( got a Clyde Edwards H rookie). They are really good

Anyone else find it weird that basically for the past 20 years not much activity or talk about baseball cards until the past couple of years and now they’re back to being popular?

I remember back around 2012 plenty of people said that they would never return to their peak in the 80’s/90’s and here we are with a resurgence in popularity.

Covid shutdowns and Trump bucks fueled the resurgence.

I’m just guessing here so don’t crucify me.

Does this have anything to do with digital and nfts?

Digital and NFTs have to do with sports cards becoming popular again.

I pay attention enough to know that it is batshit insane right now. Even box prices are crazy.

People were sending so much of their cards to PSA for grading that they had to stop for a while.

Disagree. Card breaks on Twitch and YouTube are what brought it back, imo. These were happening like 6-7 years ago, well before NFT’s were widely traded.

Have they caught up and opened things up again? Last spring their standard tier submission turnaround time was 9-12 months and they stopped accepting them. Before the Kung Flu PSA was the place to go for any vintage cards while most preferred BGS for the modern stuff.

If you've got autographed stuff you want authenticated, both are also the most trusted. Beckett was able to steal one of PSA's main authenticators who have them immediate credibility. I try to stay FAR away from JSA stuff as they've had quite a few items turn out to be fake. Their "in person" authentication controls are easy to manipulate.

The 80s and 90s card are still worthless.
