The major issue with Catholics is they believe a mortal man can absolve you of your sins. They put so much importance on a regular dude like you or me, as if he has special powers that can forgive you or help you get to heaven.

The biggest tenet of Christianity is the passage from the new testament that Jesus is THE only way to get to Heaven by accepting him as your savior. That's it. Period, done. Not baptism, not giving to charity, not going to confession or saying hail marys. Repenting is the only way. A pope or someone sitting in a booth "forgiving your sins" isn't really cutting it.

Doesn't the one of the Ten Commandments say 'Thou shalt not make unto Thee any graven image.'

I grew up Southern Baptist with the only Catholic Church in town a little more than a stones throw my house and never saw that. Hypocrites are hypocrites, the subset of Christianity doesn’t matter.

What's great about that is I don't have to go to church at all. I don't have to pray. I don't have to give money to any charity. I don't have to worry about heaven or hell because am Saved. I don't have to worry about having sex with my girlfriend or getting a divorce because I am SAVED and my sins are forgiven. This is definitely the best religion for me because I don't have to do anything holy or charitable or sit one day in church. I believe, so I am SAVED. I Repent, so I am Saved.

Thanks, brother!

PS I don't have to read the Bible, either! More porn time without it!

Most Baptists I know are borderline retarded people. The fact they can pay their bills and keep themselves fed is somewhat surprising

I just thought of something else that I don't have to bother with -- getting Baptized. There ain't NOTHING in the Bible that says I have to get Baptized to get to Heaven. Praise God.

Yeah, but when I was in college I knew a hottie from Pumpkin Center. So that exit has its good points.

Not surprised by this. Growing up Catholic I never knew there was such a prejudice against Catholics from Baptists until I was grown up and got out into the working world. I couldn't believe the things I was told by people when they found out I was Catholic. Till this day it still baffles me as to why Baptists care so much about what we as Catholics are doing. Because I can assure you Catholics don't care one way or another what Baptists are doing.

What's the deal with the Baptist? An elderly family member of mine went to a Baptist service for mother's day to see her grandson's wife (her grandson was raised Catholic and recently converted to Baptist).. She is a Catholic who goes to mass every weekend, etc.. And she said that she felt uncomfortable when the Baptist preacher made a few comments like "we __________ unlike those other religions" and "this isn't something that other religions should practice more", blah blah blah.

Why does every religion think they are "the right religion"?

You really are ignorant and have zero idea what you are talking about. Maybe if you listened with a open mind to a real Catholic or if you are honestly curious, stopping at the local Catholic Church and talking to a Priest. You would discover how wrong you are.

This is something you will not hear in a Catholic Church. I am nearly 50 and I have never heard a Priest be critical of another Christian faith.

Absolutely, you must accept Jesus as your Savior.

You see you and many others do not understand the confessional. The Priest is there to guide you and to listen to you. When he says you are forgiven, he himself isn't forgiving you. He is reassuring you that if you are sincere in your heart and seeking forgiveness from the Lord that you have his forgiveness. Now I am pretty sure from your tone that what I have said will not mean anything to you. You already have your mind made up but you know what it appears you are committing sin here also. You are judging others, only the Lord can do that not you or anyone else.

Why don't Baptists have sex in front of a window? Neighbors might see them and think they're dancin.

Go to your average Catholic Church (not some minimal Jesuit chapel) and you’ll see what we’re talking about.
