Why don't Baptists have sex in front of a window? Neighbors might see them and think they're dancin.
Why do you always take 2 and not 1 Baptists fishing with you?
If you take 1 he will drink all of your beer.

I agree with that view, but that begs the question. Why did they get a statue of Jesus if they aren't into icons?
I’m guessing that it looked good on paper but appeared starkly Catholic in the end. Those reliefs behind it seemed Baptist enough. They may have commissioned it based on sketches.

Baptist doing something ridiculously over the top for attention?
Color me shocked.
You actually believe THEY publicized this to get attention?

Go to your average Catholic Church (not some minimal Jesuit chapel) and you’ll see what we’re talking about.
It's Idolatry and it means Damnation to Hell?
But not if I'm Saved.

I don't know about taking your word for that. It might be Idolatry. The bas relief sketches might be Idolatry. Somebody might be tempted to worship the Graven Image.

I can forgive my OWN sins, if I confess my sins before God and Jesus Christ Almighty! Certainly my Pastor can't forgive my sins, he's been divorced more times than me AND he's just a man -- a very horny man, but, a MAN just the same!

No they don't.

same here...13 years of catholic education and 55 years in the church and I can't recall that either. However, I have seen it to be pretty common among the protestant religions.

That is a Martin Luther joke, you heathens

You forgot to round out how anything the Pope does is infallible.
Then you'd be 3 for 3 on complete misnomers of the Church.

"This is not a denomination issue, it's a church decision," Wright said. "We are removing it to end some confusion. Some people have seen it, guests that have been here and have asked, 'Why is this on the front of a Baptist Church?'"
A quite understandable question to ask of a Baptist Church if anyone knows anything about Baptists and graven images.

Church members meant no harm in the decision, and the attention has turned what was a simple church issue unfairly into a social justice issue, Wright said.
Oh my word... Truly by people who are addicted to the next outrage of the day to occupy their little minds with.
When aren’t there little busy bodies bent out of shape over something in this world of ours these days?
It’s a church issue. They’re Baptists, not Catholics. Get over it.

He looks more like Buddy Jesus from Kevin Smith's DOGMA Movie.
But then again Buddy Jesus was Catholic.

How do you think those Protestant churches peeled all of those gullible Catholics away and got them to convert?
Negative advertising. It is VERY effective.

I know that I can go to a Baptist Church service and repent of my sins in my own mind before Jesus Christ and my sins are FORGIVEN. Or, if the congregation wants to say in unison, " I CONFESS THAT I HAVE SINNED AND REPENT", my sins are forgiven.
Then if I have sex with my girlfriend on Wednesday (that sexy little minx), I can go to Baptist service on Sunday and, Repent the same way and be forgiven again.
Is this not the way that a Baptist is forgiven his sin that he gets from screwing his girlfriend?
And I also know that there are some Baptist Pastors that have been divorced more times than some people in their congregation. Is THAT not correct?
And finally, according to Protestants EVER-WHAR, Almighty God and Jesus Christ Himself procrastinated for 1,500 years before the True Message of Christianity was made Light Upon the Earth, because that is when Protestantism was born -- actually more than 1,500 after the birth of Baby Jesus.
Why the delay?
PS Ya'll did not hear this from me but I hear tell that some Baptists are going to Communion nowadays. Can you believe that? COMMUNION! That is downright Catholic, if you ask me.

[quote]Not surprised by this. Growing up Catholic I never knew there was such a prejudice against Catholics from Baptists until I was grown up and got out into the working world. I couldn't believe the things I was told by people when they found out I was Catholic. Till this day it still baffles me as to why Baptists care so much about what we as Catholics are doing. Because I can assure you Catholics don't care one way or another what Baptists are doing.[/quote
I had the exact opposite experience. Growing up in small town North Louisiana, I was unaware of the prejudice against Baptists from Catholics. I could not believe the things I was told by people when they found out I was Baptist. Bottom line...all faiths have doctrines others find curious, have weirdos who tarnish the reputation, don’t always treat people with compassion...etc. etc. But, broad sweeping generalizations and stereotypes are stupid regardless of the source.
