That is so wrong it’s mind boggling that you can think it. Rec leagues are still highly competitive, even if there is a talent drain to travel ball. At least in Rec league you can get a shot to win something and maybe even go to Williamsport. All you can do in travel is win some guys money making tournament.

Don’t those poor kids go to schools?
Some of the best talent out of Nola comes out of public schools
Baseball is turning into Basketball where the AAU coach is more important than the high school coach. How many college players didn’t play travel ball?

Does someone have video of this stuff?
I want to laugh.

It appears that 2nd and 3rd place get rings in these travel ball tournaments, no?
The Facebook post goes, “These boys fought hard and had fun all weekend but ultimately finished runner up”.. then it’s a photo with little Brayden flashing his 2nd place ring

1st and 2nd get rings in each division. AA, AAA, and Major.
I wish we could have played rec but our local leagues were already way too watered down to be enjoyable by the time my son reached kid pitch. I am starting to see a swing back towards rec leagues though, which I always felt like would eventually happen.

I don't understand why music upsets y'all? Do you not like it at any sporting event? I can understand why the name announcements can get annoying.

You pay 2.99 per kid and a “professional” announcer says something like “now batting, Jaxxxxxson Baw” and a few seconds of walk up music plays.

I yearn for a simpler time...
We enjoy this same tradition at Alex Box.
My daughter's walk up song for two seasons was Miley Cyrus' "Wreckin Ball". It was funny to everyone even the other teams because she's always the tiniest kid on the field.
It's just fun stuff you can do with technology today.
Why you gotta be an old sour puss?

If you’re kids are under the age of 17 then you experienced this. If you didn’t then you either played in a lame wreck league or didn’t travel around to different parks
This shite with the walk out music has been going on for the past 13 years I’ve been invoked with my kids sports.
It’s still going on at some high school games.

We let our son play rec ball this year so my wife’s parents could come watch him play some. He’s 10 and was asked to play up in 11/12 age group. He played third because he was the only kid who could make the throw to first. He had one ball hit to him the whole season. This is just an example of the so called “good talent still in rec ball” you get!

Agreed. Rec leagues are great.
I went 7-3 betting on my 7 year old nephew last season. Everyone in the travel leagues know not to bet against Braxtyn.

We don’t play travel ball, it’s select ball with tourneys every other weekend for the most part. There is enough players in central Mississippi that we don’t have to travel. The only reason we play that is because the Rec leagues are so awful now
Same here with my daughter playing 12U Fast Pitch. She still plays rec during the week with most of the same girls who practice a couple of times a week and go play tournaments in nearby places like Magee(MS), Brandon(MS), Sterlington(Monroe, LA), and Livingston(LA).
It's alot of fun for the kids. And it doesn't cost much.
The OT hate machine for this sport is an odd but funny phenomenon.

Man you people are so naive. The teams that go to Williamsport are kids that play on travel teams together
The team from Louisiana that won it a few years ago are all travel kids.
The team before them from Louisiana that lost out in the Semis, all travel kids.

Hands down my favorite topic on the OT. Stereotypes exist for a reason.

That shits being going on for a decade, at least
