Parking in the back of the lot and hopping out is the best. Avoid all the soy boys and women maneuvering for a close spot so they don’t have to walk 20 more feet

shite I usually still come out to some asshat parked right next to me. Not a car around except one random a-hole.

There are two kinds of drivers:

1. People who back into parking spots

2. People who don't know how to drive

How is it any different than backing out of a spot you're parked in, then backing in the direction of someone waiting to park in the spot you're vacating, before you finally leave? When you back into a parking spot, you create more wait time while parking but are able to just zip out of the spot without making anyone wait when leaving, and vice-versa for pulling into a spot then backing out when leaving. You're potentially making someone wait whichever way you do it.

FFS what is so hard to understand?! I can’t turn into many spots going forward… the corner of the parked vehicle would gash the side of my truck.

However, if I pass the spot and back in, I can clear the corners of the other vehicle easily.

The two wheels that turn need to be at the outside of the spot as opposed to the end with the curb.

Have you ever used forklifts? Ya know how the wheels that turn are at the opposite end from the forks? Have you ever used a pallet jack?

Often it’s the ONLY way to get in the parking spot if you’re driving a big vehicle.

Fuggin idiot.

What if it’s the only way to get my vehicle into the space?

It’s not a fricking style choice… it’s necessity.

No. It’s the only way to get in many spots if you’re driving a long wheelbase vehicle.

Otherwise I’m doing a 30 point turn… forward back forward back forward back forward back

People who back into the spot in a busy parking lot, i.e a ballfield, are the absolute worst

So you also have no idea why people back into spots.

It's unnecessary and cultish. 9 out of 10 times it takes WAY longer to wait for some a-hole that HAS to show everyone he can back in.

Hey, genius, that ha nothing to do with most people who are forced to back in because that the only way to get into a spot.

Would it impede traffic more if I have to drive around the parking lot for 15 minutes looking for a spot big enough for me to be able to get into moving forward?

the talking point about it being safer to pull out headfirst might have had some truth, but it's literally irrelevant now.

What if dozens of people have to pull out of their parking spot at the same time? Which would be easier, safer, etc?

Agreed but sometimes you can’t. If it’s an angle spot and only one way down the lane. Several mentioned pull thru and that’s the absolute best. Reduced risk.

Already been explained: backing IN is a precision move. Backing out requires way less precision.
