It's been years since I've stepped in a gym so I'm not really sure exactly what I should be doing from day to day. Any advice or recommendations for workout plans and routines?

Are you trying to lose weight or build muscle?

Muscle. Dropping a few lbs wouldn't hurt but I'm not overweight. Currently about 6'1" 185lbs

Do what you can, and try to build on it (push more and ramp up your base activity), every two weeks or so.....

I´m assuming you may have been athletic and in shape at one time, of course.

Bicept curls - 8 sets of 4 curls, as much as you can do no matter the form

Between bicept curls, do 8 sets of 20 calf raises

Then do some ab crunches with minimal effort and maximum grunting

And polish it off with a protein shake ... just be ready to sit on a toilet for 2-3 hours 30 minutes after the shake

Good luck !

Just find a basic routine online and focus on your diet.

I started the Body Beast routine with focus on the Lean plan. I enjoy it so far and definitely walk away from each lift burnt.

So thats a good one that structured to make it easy to get into

Don't bother with boring weight lifting. Eat right and do some organized activity like kickboxing, cross fit, or whatever. It'll be more fun and you'll be more likely to stick to it.
