Just to update the thread, one of the charges was thrown out per this ruling.

Looks like charges that got quashed can still be filed by bill of information. If I had to guess, the DA could do that today if he hasn’t already. All this did was run up the bill.

The complication is that the trial has already started. The jury hasn't been seated, so it's not a double jeopardy issue, but it's more of a timing issue. I only read a very sparse news article about it so I'm not sure if the trial remains stayed to permit them to file the bill, etc.

I lived and worked in Deridder for two years in the 90's and it is a unique area. It is a dry parish, so no beer/booze/bars/nightlife. Also the population is mostly pentecostal and mennonite, so alot of chicks with long skirts who never cut their hair.......until they turn 18 and go wild. I would compare it to a morman rumspringa. Like the old Adam Ant song, don't drink don't smoke, what do you do? Lots of horizontal dancing.

I used to swim at the public pool in Deridder circa ‘81-‘83 right off Hwy. 27 when my grandma would bring us to “town” from Singer when we’d stay with my grandparents for a week during the summer visiting them from BR.
