Bacchus started the OG super krewe in 1969.

Endymion started in 1966 as this is the 60-year anniversary. Per the interwebs, Bacchus had 250 members in 1969 not really super krewe numbers. But it did grow to become one just like Endymion.

As someone else mentioned. Endymion was a Gentilly neighborhood parade when it started. Its evolution to “super krewe” is arguably more compelling than Owen Brennan just deciding he wanted to create one from scratch to bolster weekend tourist business at restaurants, though.

Wrong. . Brees was king of Bacchus the year of the Super Bowl. He’ now coming back to ride again after hall of fame.

Endymion had tom benson.

Not hard to look up

Compelling as in copying what someone else is doing? They just captured the Saturday night spot and used bead distribution company to make sure they had plenty of throws to create the branding.

I enjoy both krewes and while Brennan was instrumental it was over a dozen business leaders who created Bacchus. And they changed Mardi Gras for the better. Brennan was just at the head.

The two krewes are very different. And that’s a good thing.

The story is Ed Muniz was at the River gate watching Bacchus in the late 70s with Blaine Kern and said that that’s what we need to do and then made the change from a small neighborhood parade that rented Carroltons floats to the super Krewe model

Endymion is the most overrated parade. Bacchus has better floats and each have their own distinct throws.

It was defined by Errol Laborde years ago but I think size and quality of floats quality of bands quality of throws etc

So this guy is your source?

Iris has more riders than Endymionm throws are different on each float and their floats improve each year.

Orpheus is just as good as other 2 can’t give a specific reason but just not as big time

I've been a member of Orpheus for 18 years. It is considered a Super Krewe, probably because Connick, Jr had the money to quickly rise to the status.

Bacchus began in 1968, Endymion in 1967.

Endymion is for guys from Lutcher, LA, who went to community college to play baseball but dropped out because the coach was "out to get them." They have thin linebeards and sound like they're from Marrero. It's disgusting.
Negative. Those are the type of guys riding Mardi Gras day truck parades or the Irish Italian parade on Vets in Metairie. Those say bras aren’t spending thousands to be in Endymion.

Both are great.
I really love Toth because of the longer day. It’s good to watch it and get home easily. I’m always on magazine.

How does one track down one of the leviathan porcelain sets?

Also would love to ride leviathan one day. Been my favorite float since I was a kid.
