A 1-month-old baby found on the side of an Oklahoma interstate in a car seat stuffed with $5,500 in cash and a birth certificate was in state custody Monday as authorities continued to investigate why the boy was abandoned.

quote:

Police said they located the child's mother through family members and that she's been taken to a hospital to be evaluated.

quote:

Emergency workers estimated the child had been left in the 91-degree heat about 30 minutes, but said he appeared to be well cared for before being left on the interstate.

I don't be understand how someone could do this to a dog, much less a human being.

Heartbreaking that anyone could do this to such a young child

WIth the birth certificate it shouldn't be too hard to track down the parent(s) who did this.

At least she didn't get the baby killed. Just drop him off at a fire station and walk away no questions asked.

Gotta hate people sometimes

At least the child wasn't old enough to remember.

Why not in front of a dollar general or hospital. Yeah cameras, but my goodness get a baby off the side of a highway. Plus with. BC, won't be too hard to find parents

Mental illness does strange things to people. I'd withhold judgment for now.

Sad thing as well, some getting pregnant knowing they have mental illness in the first place.

I've never seen someone write $5.5k before. Feels like $5,500 would be easier in more ways than one.

That's the strangest part. They cared enough about him to leave money (presumably for his care) but not enough to not leave him on the side of the interstate?

I thought if you touched a baby then the mother won't take it back?

Maybe the father will take it back if that's the case?
