Vanity sizing

Cannot convey how much I absolutely despise vanity sizing. They've sized smaller women entirely out of stores.

The stores I can actually purchase pants in can be counted on one hand.

Old Navy can frick right off with their clothing that's all 4 sizes off to appease heavy people.

Same for men's sizes. I was looking at some pants the other day and the smallest they make is 32's

The article specifically named Old Navy as having over double the extra room in their vanity sizes as most other retailers.

According to the article, the median american woman is a size 18

Yeah, hell, the median waist measurement for women aged 20-29 is 87cm (34.25 inches). That's a size 15. That's really difficult to believe.

The median waist for non-Hispanic white women aged 20-39 is 89.3cm. The median waist for ALL men aged 20-29 is 89.5cm. All I've got is anecdotal evidence, but damn, that seems incorrect.

That's fricking awful. Hell, my waist size is a 34.

Luckily, Mrs. udtiger is well below average (Size 2).

Even with a belt size 38 is too big for me when I was 20 I could still squeeze into size 30

I know some guys that wear a 38” waist jeans and are way less than 200 pounds. Sometimes build and bone structure determines a lot when it comes to waist size.

bullshite. Unless they’re like 5’3 this just can’t be true.

I’m 185 and have a 30 inch waist

So you think it’s a one size fits all approach? Don’t you think people have different builds? What about jacket sizes? I know people less than 200 pounds that wear a 44-46, and also people who are 225-230 that wear a 44-46. Body composition has a lot to do with it.

Pant sizes and jacket sizes are completely different.

If you’re sub 200 pounds and above 5’5, I just don’t see any way possible someone can have a 36 inch waist unless they’re shaped like a cartoon character.

People are built different, but dudes under 200lbs aren't rocking 38". If they are they have a tire around their waist.

I wear a 36 although I fit in 35s. They are just hard to find sometimes. I'm 6'3 229. I've worked out with weights most of my adult life although not as much as I used to. Slight dad bod but no gut. I'm 40 years old but just an overall big dude. I was 210 in HS and wore a 32. I do think it would be hard to imagine a 5'8" 185 lb guy in 36s. Seems like he'd look odd.

Most popular retailers don’t produce jeans at either size

That’s because jean sizes are a couple inches lower that the actual measurement. Going to a tailor for the first time is an eye-opener for most people.

I'm 5-10, 185-190 and wear 36's to fit through the thighs. Very loose in the waist and I always have to wear a belt. #humblebrag
