I’m single and my household income is top 5

y'all are missing the point
vacations are strictly a luxury item
when things are tight, you sacrifice the luxury items first
I get what you're saying, but I don't find them all to be just luxury. Its a mental health thing for me
I don't need luxury. I can shut down the engines camping in the woods for a week. That's a GREAT vacation actually, my wife just doesn't agree to those

Is this take home?
Posted on 5/30/19 at 12:18 pm to AUCE05
That’s true, but something like 80% of Americans live in an urban area

the vacation doesn't have to be luxurious for a vacation to be a luxury
even just a camping trip with a family for a week can be a luxury item due to having to buy gear (tent, sleeping bags, etc) for everyone and just driving to your destination
most of us on here are upper middle class, so it's hard to imagine it taking several years to save even just $1k for a cheap vacation
but its the world that the majority of people live in

we shittin on the average, baw

Always feels good to make more on my own than the average household in my state

because as illustrated in this thread, people think its bullshite to not take a vacation every year

Try $40k/year, that was hell.

I mean why live if you can't enjoy it?

So everyone making the average wage or less should kill them selves?
Posted on 5/30/19 at 12:47 pm to TH03
not sure, but I'm glad my Dad didn't murder/suicide us when he was struggling to get his business going
Posted on 5/30/19 at 12:49 pm to TH03
There’s a Louis CK bit on that
Cliffs:
“Life is so good that even most people in shitty situations would rather live than kill themselves.”
