Near Copper Mountain. East bound lane to Denver is closed with people stranded on the Interstate but thankfully no cars trapped in the avalanche.
UPDATE - Both east and west bound lanes are open.

Lot of baws up there for mardi gras.

I drove I-70 from Denver to Glenwood a week ago and am scheduled to go again this week. There was a recent rock slide in Glenwood canyon too. This was the second avalanche apparently.
Colorado has gotten a ton of snow this year.

They go nuts for Mardi Gras beads up there. Even the crappy ones.

I love Copper. That’s pretty crazy that it happened at that spot on I-70.

Not really. That stretch between frisco and copper is at the bottom of a canyon with mountains going straight up both sides.
Most snow in Summit County in 20 years or something

Yea there are some really steep slopes through that ten mile canyon area.

I was in it. Literally happened a few hundred yards in front of us

How thick did it get in the deepest spot on I70?

Couldn't have been more than a few feet if they cleared it that fast.

Thats further east than I thought around Tenmile Canyon. I thought it was closer to Copper than that. I agree, that area is pretty freaking steep.

Article says the road wasnt actually covered, stopped at the creek on side of i70
