Lotta eating disorders in sororities. The Chi O cousin of a friend of mine developed anorexia that finally killed her several years out of college. I wouldn't necessarily call it hazing though. More like the kind of mind games all women play on each other when a group of them are together for any length of time.
I don't doubt that at all, but it definitely depends on the sorority and the school, apparently. My friend's nephew goes to Nicholls. His girlfriend is in a sorority there. I have seen the girlfriend and her best friend, who is in the same sorority. They are best classified as "large" and "larger". Sadly, because of what you mentioned above about how the girls must look, the first thing that popped into my head was "these girls could never be in a sorority at LSU". So if a guy like myself who has been out of college for 25 years has that thought pop into his head about what a sorority girl "should look like", then it is obviously an issue.

I did not find the members of my fraternity to be anymore wealthy than the average student. I sure was not. Very middle class group on average. Lot of broke MFs too
Same. Of course there was your group of like 5 rich guys, but everyone else was middle-class and pretty short on money looking for the next free drink special to go to.

If you put together a some what random assortment of people, there will be some in the group who more money than others.

Good because discrimination in this country only applies to white males. Women, blacks, latinos etc still are able to freely discriminate everyday

is this where we talk about hazing stories?
As we like to put it years later, "pledgeship - the most fun you never want to have again"

I am a Phi from LSU - part of the first pledge class from when it was reactivated in 2005-2006 actually.
we might know each other. you would definitely know my brother. not going to say names on here, but I was very proud with what y'all did over the last decade.
I am so ashamed of these boys.
Feel horrible for the family and kid.

Preliminary autopsy:

The preliminary autopsy findings are as follows: No internal or external trauma noted. Marked cerebral and pulmonary edema were observed. Hospital admit blood and urine tests indicate a highly elevated blood alcohol level plus the presence of THC in the urine. These findings will be confirmed in detail through our own toxicology testing. Final autopsy results pending further studies including toxicology and histological testing.

Drugs and alcohol.
Not looking too good for Greeks. This will only hurt their image, especially after the coke incident last year.
Btw: I don't believe in drug laws. Just fyi

How can Greeks get universtity (public) support and still exclude people? Their land is leased for like 100 years for $10 per year.
That is support. But yet they can discriminate. Seems fishy.
Same way a university (public) is allowed to curtail their adult students' right to peaceably assemble, I guess.

I don't think they can now. I think that if you rush, you have to be accepted by someone.
That could just be sorority though.
False. Fraternities can cut anybody for any reason.

LSU sororities are a different breed from the SELA, Nicholls, ULLs of the world. A ton of girls that get into sororities there would never have a shot at even the shittiest LSU chapters. That's fact.

I must have heard wrong.
Was told by Sorority presidents that if you rush, someone must take you.
This was in 2013-2016

Serious question...how many years have you been out of college?
You're like Uncle Rico on here talking about the glory days acting like a badass.

Fraternities at LSU are looking to try to fill pledge classes.
Sororities have more applicants than they can take.
Is all this a backlash over raising the drinking age to 21?

Dont put SELA sororities in the same sentence as Nicholls and ULL.
As big of bitches as SLU sorority girls were, the Phi Mu's and AOII's were 90% hot.
Nicholls is all fat girls

I'm married to a Southeastern AOII, and I'd concur that most of the girls she is/was friends with were attractive enough to be in LSU sororities. But if you're talking about Greek life in general, Southeastern isn't really comparable to LSU.

This thread wouldn't exist if they made pledges take bong rips instead of Everclear shots. Instead, anyone 21 and over can buy as much Everclear as they want, but get caught with a gram of weed on you out at a tailgate and your scholastic and professional career is ruined.
