Yeah but there are ways to make people miserable without endangering anyone. Hell just get a fit person to run them and make them workout everyday. Way shittier than being forced to drink alcohol especially if you're a fat out of shape 18 year old kid.

My cousin died running laps and chugging water in an LSU frat activity. No alcohol or drugs involved. Years ago and horribly sad for my family but bad things happen when young adults with still developing brains and bodies test their limits in any way.

that's what kids do, frat or no frat, not being an a-hole but life is about testing yourself, and your endurance, if you can't take it, stop!!! starts way before frats, and extends well beyond them

That's awful, but I think we can all agree the "chugging water" part isn't needed at all. Everyone knows you can die chugging water just like alcohol. I think the poster was trying to say ... just put them through good, clean, hard boot camp style exercise. I'd guess you'd need pledges to submit to a physical to ensure that they can handle the exercise.

If the Russkies had ever invaded LSU, we would have been ready. More guys kept firearms in the house than did not. I was sitting downstairs in the foyer one day and a round came through the ceiling from one of the upstairs bedrooms. We had a couple of older guys who were vets and several more in the reserves. You didnt have to be a physical specimen to get a bid but it didnt hurt. The short, scrawny fratstars of this era look like an alien species to me.

Because ole miss was a fricking hoot during pledgeship.

you and I and were ships crossing in the(alcoholic daze of North Highland,) night, I came in to LSU at the tail end of VN, it was so cool because of the entire mix of everything society had to offer, we had vets, and of course they were all over LSU, and what a bunch of cool guys, and they put up with a lot of shite that very few of the young 'uns could ever dream about, ...but don't frick with them!

What's the mandatory sentence for manslaughter in Louisiana? Or negligent homicide
I don't know but there are no winners from this event.

Mostly it was just minor fricking with our heads. The only big thing was tackle football on the Miss. River levee against the actives. We played uphill, they played downhill.

Red Rover full speed on concrete with suit and tie on was fun.

There were not fun things too

I guess we were lucky. Drank a lot of beer. Especially on Bid Night and South Seas. No physical hazing at all.

It seems like hard liquor was reserved for stadium flasks or Freds Sunset Club screwdrivers.

Actually, before this happened I didn't know that chugging water could kill anyone. Not when they were engaged in extreme physical activity and sweating a lot. I seriously doubt my cousin knew either as he wasn't the personality type to do something he thought was life threatening just to be in a frat. He was from Baton Rouge and had plenty of friends.

This goes back to underdeveloped brains and untested bodies. Look how many athletes die from heart conditions when tested on the field. I miss my cousin but I dont think anyone involved in that activity actually thought he could die by participating.

Pimp's LambChop house fire story is truth
I had three Chop room mates from 91-95 and they said the same story was chapter gospel

Scary that an entire house could have been killed

Pimp your chapter fracturing story brought back some memories. Is Sonny Devillier still alive?

How can Greeks get universtity (public) support and still exclude people? Their land is leased for like 100 years for $10 per year.

That is support. But yet they can discriminate. Seems fishy.

I don't think they can now. I think that if you rush, you have to be accepted by someone.

That could just be sorority though.
