No way hell they can do this. FWIW I don't think you should receive anything if you haven't had your hours reduced or been laid off. But there is no way a company can legally do this.
I'm still working 40 hours a week, and i'm going to get that $1200 in $1 bills, and roll around in it. I'll take pictures of it for those of you not working.
Sucks to be a non essential worker, literally not needed at all.

The company would also take half of the $500 stipend allotted for dependents under the bill.
They lost me right there.

So essential that you're making under $75k. Congrats!

It’s a stimulus not unemployment. It’s to help the entire economy stimulate, not just those in trouble.

They’re about to get the frick sued out of them, and frankly I’m glad.

Why does it even matter if its just an advancement on next years refund?

Is this the Rockets owner pulling this off? Wouldn’t surprise me

no way anyone with any real options would stick around for long after that.
You think there are a lot of options out there right now?

how would they know?
I'm pretty sure they know what their own employees make
But as far as their kid and spousal situation, you have a point there. They aren't entitled to that info.

While really shitty optics, I feel like everyone in this thread is ignoring the possibility that the company is eating a loss keeping everyone employed full time.
Its not a money grab....they are paying out more than what the stimulus is offering them.

I doubt they could legally do that.

But the stimulus isn't for wage replacement... that's what the $600 on top of regular unemployment was for.

The stimulus check is essentially an advance tax credit.
This is basically extortion

Until they name the company, this story is fake
