They need some kind of net weapon for certain situations like this.
It appears the guy was on something and already caused a crash? Looks like he could have killed someone driving in this condition.

“It’s not a tourniquet type of thing.”

If someone pulls a gun on you, you better assume they will shoot you if you do not obey their command.
If you don't obey their command then you probably deserve to be shot, especially if its a police officer.
Not not only did he not obey command he was going at him. You don't give someone trying to hurt you, enough time to actually do so.

It looks like the cop had ample opportunity to trade his firearm for a taser.
It will come down to the ‘totality of the circumstances”.
What was the perspective of the officer at the time of the event.
Can he articulate the events and how he was in fear of great bodily harm or death had he engaged physically with the deceased.
It will then fall back on his training records. Basic academy teaches always use the plus 1 theory. If he has one gun, assume he has 2.
The department use of force policy.
Aggressiveness of the deceased.
Size of officer versus the deceased.
And every other question they can throw at him.
Hopefully this officer’s career can survive in this day and age of doxxing, media scrutiny, social media, civil lawsuits, etc
This is a sad world we are now living in where you can do your job correctly and still be negatively impacted.

Correct closing the distance puts cop in danger from a multiple of unknowns.
When I took a training class they showed videos of a person with a knife from 25 feet away having an advantage over a cop with a holstered weapon.

This.
Even with a sub second draw, your chances of stopping that guy without getting cut is almost nill.

The perp used a racial term. Justified

People who have never been in this situation will never understand.

Shrug.
It’s not the cops problem that the guy is drunk and refusing orders with a gun in his face.
Agreed... There has to be some sort of limit when your pointing a gun at someone, give them instructions and they continue to come at you and threaten...
But isn't Aurora the same town that the city gave into the young black kids who's baby stole the barbie doll... and all the democrats on **.com were screaming.. It's ok, it's just a toy doll...

Yup.
Strange, you and I are never find ourselves in this type of situation.

To be frank, I no longer care.

Democrats said this was fine when 110 pound unarmed Ashley Babbit was gunned down, so why do they care now?

Yea let’s shoot someone with a net that just hit someone with his car and showed no regard for their life by fleeing and is now actively trying to kill me while he is approaching me constantly and I am outnumbered! Get the net!
Or he can just shoot him.

Should have been shot a lot quicker.

Go read the FB comments on various posts regarding this, and you'll understand why the ONLY long term solution in this country is secession.

I’m no expert but apparently the police officer was “ready for dis”.

That 3rd shot is iffy.
