Stay away even if you own property there.

quote:

However, more than half of those nine counties declared states of emergency this past week, with one making it illegal for Atlantans to visit.

As the Fannin County Sheriff’s Administration wrote on its Facebook page Thursday, people from Atlanta will “ABSOLUTELY NOT!!” be allowed in the county, even if they own property...

Atlanta residents stay home.

How is that constitutional?

How is any of this constitutional?

Unless martial law is declared I don’t see how a small town mayor or a sheriff can just decide to ban people entering their county.

Sounds good. And anyone who doesn’t live in Atlanta can keep staying out. Incredible how congestion clears up when people who don’t live here quit commuting in. Atlanta doesn’t actually have that much traffic, it’s all the suburbanites that have created it.

I need a link to their next door app so we can create havoc scaring those people with rumors of Atlantians coming up with AK-47s and raping white women.

I don't think that one will hold up.

It shouldn't hold up.

I love how every mayor, county commissioner, and podunk sheriff thinks they can override the Constitution.

Martial Law has not been declared and is not in force at this time.

they can until somebody stops them and I hope somebody has the balls or money to do it but we know judges will back all the authoritarian bullshite actions.

About 99% of Fannin County is in the Chattahoochee National Forest so the lockdown is even more problematic for Sheriff Dane Kirby. The is nothing worse than a small-town sheriff on a power trip.

It’s so funny that all of this crazy shite was predicted by all you RWNJ’s to happen under Obama.

I was on the AT up in north ga today. Figured driving 1hr on a forest service road to a trail crossover wouldn’t have much traffic. I was wrong it was the most crowded I’ve ever seen. Usual is like 2-4 cars at this spot with the occasional 10-12. There were 40 plus there.

It is. All of it.

Gibbons v. Ogden has a tidbit about times of quarantine in its discussion on valid local government power.

But the inspection laws are said to be regulations of commerce, and are certainly recognised in the Constitution as being passed in the exercise of a power remaining with the States. . . . Inspection laws, quarantine laws, health laws of every description, as well as laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c., are component parts of this mass.

How does one declare martial law?

Is it the same way Michael Scott declared bankruptcy in the hit tv show The Office.

A municipality has the ability to enact a quarantine but it can’t be a blanket order simply because someone is from an area. This isn’t even a quarantine it’s a restriction on entering an a part of the state.

All of these governments can’t enact blanket quarantine orders. These things are much are along the lines of stop and show papers.
