I don't object to Atlanta not being that interesting for outsiders, but this is just ridiculous. Nobody here seriously compares ourself to NYC.
Atlanta has culture, but no, it doesn't have the interesting cultural significance of historical port cities like Savannah/Charleston/NOLA.
It's a much better place to live than any of them, however, with a lot more to do as a resident, and it's an easy drive to those "interesting" places. Which is why it's a booming city for business and residents.
There is nothing Mayberry about Atlanta, and that includes the large majority of suburbs.

I'm from BR and moved here about 3 years ago. Best decision I ever made will NEVER return to Louisiana. This city has so much to do anyday of the week. It's very progressive and forward thinking. Multicultural from all over the world literally. Opportunities are endless!

i understand going out isn't everything, but there are more interesting places to grab a drink in one development (Krog Street) then the entire vapid wasteland of social options in BR

People keep talking about culcha but that doesn't make a city. If a place adopts one way of living then you don't leave room for different people. It's accept, conform or get out you're not apart of us.

That’s the bullshite platitude that I’ve heard from ATL people in the past.
I think they were a mail stop that prioritized road, rail, and air links to other areas in the south. Similar to Memphis except with more luck and fewer political frick ups 20-30 years ago.

Goes back farther than that baw, circa civil rights movement, Atlanta accepted the times, they were a changing, Birmingham chose to Alabama, both of those cities were about the same size little cow towns before that
