Just wanted to warn all you baws and bawettes who are planning on traveling East on I-10 towards Baton Rouge. This kind of stuff rarely happens.

I’m going Westbound. Looks like the problem spot was maybe a Mile East of the Whiskey Bay Pilot Channel. Traffic West of that stopped and folks standing outside.

I’m currently at the Butte Larose visitor’s center, and nothing Eastbound is moving at all.

Plan your travels accordingly.

Sad how people speed on the bridge and cause problems

The drone speed traps can’t come soon enough

I passed it this morning going westbound at around 930. 18 wheeler was on fire on the shoulder in the eastbound lane. Was a very large fire and first responders hadn't gotten there yet.

What is the statistical probability of any vehicle fire vs how often it happens on the basin bridge?

Ahh…I didn’t see any smoke or any burnt truck when I went by, but LA State Troopers were outside their vehicles and appearing to block the right lane.

The traffic immediately East of the spot was crawling, but moving. However, another mile or so more West, everything appears to be stopped and people are visiting outside their vehicles.

It's wild how often that shite happens.

I-10 From Lafayette to Baton Rouge has to be one massive Native American burial ground.

I can’t believe the feds haven’t pushed at least adding new bridges over whiskey bay as part of accepting any highway construction funds. I guess there are wildlife habitat concerns or outdoorsman complaints.

The entire Atchafalaya Basin Bridge needs to have new lanes constructed and then let 18 wheelers use the old ones, but why hasn’t there been push to add more turnarounds and also pullover areas like what was added to causeway?

And if you believe that, I have a house for sale in Lakeview that didn’t get douched after Katrina.

18wheeler burned to the ground on the east bound side at around 9AM. Passed on west bound side while the fire dept was still hosing it down and traffic was already a cluster. Headed back now and Waze has me exiting at Cecilia. Will see what happens from there

They would have to fund 90% of it.

Backed up not moving as far West as the exit just before the bridge. I’d look for an alternate route up to 190.

Here's a first, I've never seen Google Maps show traffic congestion on the gravel levee road that runs from the Butte Larose visitors center all the way to 190 in Krotz Springs.

Louisiana must be the Bermuda Triangle for trucks lighting on fire on I-10 bridges. Is it all the POS headed to Mexico, most of which stall on the Baton Rouge Bridge?

Just followed Wade through Cecilia, Henderson along the levee etc and popped back out on the other side of the traffic. When I got back on the interstate there was no vehicles coming from back west
