As far as top speed, it isn't.

But I have had less problems with AT&T and prefer it over Cox.

Just be prepared though, AT&T basically double their prices after the first year

Not even close. I had AT&T and switched back to Cox. I guess it could depend on the area but top AT&T speed was 50 mb/s and Cox is 200 mb/s

What kind of problems do you have with Cox internet? I have my problems with their prices but our service almost never has issues.

Att offers a few different products; their new fiber service, uverse (which is a newer variation of dsl), and old fashioned dsl.

Cable internet is usually better technology than all but fiber.

Lol

Att promises that they're faster than cox and that its fiber Internet and then you get it and it's the same speed but it craps out all the time and then they send the cargo shorts Prius guy out and he tells you to shut up and every thing is fine

Then you call them again and they either send out Prius guy or eventually they send out the hard hat cherry picker truck guy and he sits in his truck for 45 minutes then he tells you that they gotta down grade your speed because the Prius guy sold you on the fast internet but it's too fast for the 150 year old copper line that they run their internet through so you can only get the slowest speed if you don't want the Internet to crap out all the time

Then they tell you att has a "20 for 20" plan where by 2020 they will have everybody up to 20 mbps or whatever which is cool but you want your internet to work now

Stick with cox

Same here, it works without issue. I just hate paying for it.

if you're going to ATT, ask how close you are to their main terminal for your neighborhood.

if you're too far away, they'll sell you 50mbps internet, but you'll only ever get like 5

I've had no issues with Cox outside of it being out for the flood in August. We actually pay for 100 mbps on my bill, but when I speed test it, I routinely get 175-180. Not sure if that's accurate or if it's suppose to happen.

I didn't have any issues with ATT when we had their internet a couple years ago, we just didn't get as much value as we do with cox for the speed we had.

It depends on how it gets to your area.

It's not very important to a lot of people, but if you work from home or connect to an office through VPN, or cloud, you should consider upload speeds as well. Last I checked, AT&T (non fiber) upload speeds were autoicous. Cable ISPs are capable of much faster upload speeds.

Depends on where you are. Have a friend in the Mandeville area who has ATT Uverse and really likes it. It looks like they have up to a 1 gigabit speed solution. In Lafayette, it seems like it's the third level solution behind LUSFiber and then Cox

AT&T is running new fiber optic lines in my hood as we speak. Not sure if I want to make the switch from cable internet.
