I'm not sure if I would have Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and YouTube TV if I still had cable. That's the key question
We have YouTubeTV, Netflix and Amazon Prime. We had Netflix and Prime when we still had cable though. It doesn't save us much but not having a contract is worth it to me.

Providers keep raising their rates with every contract renewal. Will start happening to streaming services too. Congress needs to do something.

so what's the best way to watch live sports on my tv?

We have just about as many sports channels with YouTubeTV that we did with Cox, maybe more. I think the only one we don't have is the NFL network.
We get all 4 locals live as well.

My Comcast has been fine. cheaper than when I had it for internet and direct tv.
Way I figure it, all these streaming services will add up to the same.

I’m locked in at $55/mo for internet.
I had DTV at $45/mo but it was about to jump to $105/mo (I guess now $115/mo).
I canceled and didn’t add anything since we don’t watch enough tv outside of sports. I used a login and OTA for that.
So instead of $170/mo, I pay the $55/mo I would have been paying anyway.
Even had I gotten something like Hulu, I’d still be saving $60-$65/mo.
I realize most people watch more tv than we do so they need something but ditching cable/satellite worked great for me.

This sort of things works because I will not even notice my uverse bill going up 8 dollars

quote:Been doing that for a couple years now. As long as they keep giving me the promotions, it doesn't cost much more than streaming. I'm paying $70 all in with DTV and $15/mo savings by switching isn't really worth the sports delay or having a wife complain bc she is not familiar with the new platform.
I just called Monday and threatened to cancel and they lowered my bill by $50 a month

Even for live sports?
Yep
I use Hulu tv and have yet to miss any game I wouldn’t miss with a cable provider

I was paying $250 a month, that’s with premium, HBO, and sports package and 10 receivers.
I got it down to $199 and I’m getting rid of 3 or 4 receivers which will drop in down another $21-$28.

Dropped them for YouTube TV a few months ago. Absolutely zero complaints.

I don’t doubt that at all, but I’m sure I’ll be long dead before YouTube TV costs as much as cable television
