I would either call in sick or kill myself if I worked customer service for ATT today. The only saving grace is the dumbest of their clientele aren’t intelligent enough to use a phone without cellular data.

People with older Iphones and a SIM card seem to be ok.....everyone I've talked to with eSIM is down

It seems like if your SIM or eSIM serial number is between this and this you lost service but if your outside those numbers you have service like ATT systems crashed but only a certain area of people that the SIM serial numbers are in

Believe it or not a lot of alarm systems still use GSM (2G) or circuit switch tech. So this would technically be a different core from LTE/NR(5G). However, if not, I could see it being an issue.
ATT core is compromised of A LOT of Network Elements even before it hits the MME (which is routing).
From that other post where the anon source is speaking, it sounds a lot like either X2 Handovers are an issue (which technically might be Software related) or some sort of ATT proprietary thing happening at the switch that only someone who works in ATT would know about.
The carriers TMO / VZW / ATT have a TON of proprietary shite.
