It takes a couple of day for these neurotransmitters to build back up. Until they build back up, you feel like you're watching your team attempt a potential game-winning field goal with 1 second left in the championship game...and you feel like this constantly.

So that's what that feeling is all about.

I haven't looked forward to really tying one on in a while, because it takes me 2 days to recover.

I would say the drinking fun & pain lines cross around the age of 39.

Pretty much sums up my stance. I will take a vacation day on the Monday after the first NFL Sunday. Just in case.

Never heard of this so I looked it up. It definitely right on target for some of my hang overs.

I always called this an emotional hangover, but yes, it's typically worse than the physical hangover.

Absolutely.

Nothing better FOR anxiety than a couple beers.

Nothing WORSE for anxiety than a hangover. Slippery slope.

Oktoberfest was the last time I had one of these. Alcohol is a depressant and anxiety is very near to depression. Starts with the "damn what the fricks wrong with me. I'm too old. I got kid(s)" all down hill from there. Add the headache and anxiety?

28 is when i noticed that the detox took 2 days instead of no time. i used to wake up early after a long night of drinking and go for a run. i just don't bother with drinking unless i absolutely am sure i have a whole day to recover.

I'm 31 and they 100% prevent me from drinking in excess. Just not worth it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one whose answer is mid 20s.

My early college years, I'd get hammered and stay up all night, take a short nap sometime Saturday and do it all again Saturday night.

By my mid and now late 20s, if I get drunk and stay out into the morning hours, I'm dead the next day.

I typically end the drinking before it gets to hangover-inducing territory, but if I feel like I'm there I just drink a lot of water before crashing.

The only times I'm really bad off the next day is when I'm too drunk to remember to properly hydrate... even then I haven't had a 2-day hangover in years.

Truly envious of these "mid 40s" answers. Mine became near unbearable and multi-day around 25. Got worse each of the next 3-4 years. I think (hope) I am maxed out on shitiness now.

I started feeling the pain for 2 days around 25

I never had more than dry mouth until I was 25.

Then a switch flipped.

Headaches. Nausea. Chills.

God forbid I finish a fifth of bourbon or case of beer. I become a zombie the next day.
