26, I could no longer binge drink like in college.

I was so hungover off of 5 beers earlier this week after a fantasy football draft that I puked in the bathroom at work in the morning. So it was this week at the tender age of 28 I saw my body beginning to betray me.

Ya know how your Mom always was telling don't scratch that bug bite? Always blew off the advice and at most a week later it was all gone?
If ya do scratch it at 50 it may take a month or more to heal.

I’m almost 50 and at some point stuff just stops “going away”. If you hurt something it might just aggravate you from here on out. I did something to my elbow about 2 years ago. It just kind of hurts when I move just right all the time. I don’t expect it will stop anytime soon.
Teenagers heal like vampires. One second you’re hurt and then you aren’t.

Gatorade before you drink and after you drink and when you wake up and you’ll be fine.

Noticed it when I hit 40. I took a big fall on our deck when it was wet and I was drunk. Big bone bruise on my hip took 6 weeks to go away.

About 40 for me... now 48, I am not in great shape but I am not a lard arse either. I find while doing things I feel ok. One hour after I stop, no mas....

Do you drink a lot? Dad was an alcoholic and when he'd knick himself it was like a massacre.

I started to see the difference in my late 30s but now I am far more proactive with injury so I heal not that much slower but left to its own devices I could spend a week hurting from something I would barely feel the next day at 35.
The big difference I note at 53 compared to 35 is my recovery rate after anaerobic efforts, especially in the heat. I did (tried to do) hard intervals yesterday on the bike when it was about 92 degrees and pegged 185 bpm (roughly my max heart rate these days) on the first set of intervals. 20 years ago my heart rate would have dropped down under 135 in less than 2 minutes. After 2 minutes I was at 167 and I spent the rest of the hour with very half-hearted sprints and never once got below 153. I felt like I had run two marathons after I finished the hour and a half.
Getting older has its benefits but it is damned demoralizing in other ways, especially when you are putting in the effort 6 days a week.

I’d like to know how well the people with 3 day hangovers take care of themselves??? Are you just an out of shape fat arse? Exercise regularly? Running routine? Activity levels?
I started getting shite hangovers in my late 20’s....just got to figure out what you can drink excessively that doesn’t cause it....mine is Tito’s and water.

I pulled a muscle in my backside when I fell down in June. It finally felt normal a couple of weeks ago. 61 here

Its a slow thing that you barely realize.
Let me put it this way. When in high school, you pull a muscle, you are ok within a couple of days. By your early twenties, you take a week to get better. By the late twenties, this goes up to maybe two weeks.
Mid to late thirties, a month. And also you start noticing around thirty that you need more recovery time after a hard workout. Slight at first again.
By forty, even the most manly amongst us realizes that he is slowing down and getting older, unless you are Herschel Walker, in which case you start fighting professional MMA.
