He was a lifetime regional guy.

I can’t imagine why.

I was out of the news loop for a few days....but did I read a couple days ago that some a-hole on an airplane tried to open the door mid-flight and they had to make an emergency land?

I believe it was this one out of Boston. They were still on the ground taxiing.

Seeing reports of several injuries, so not quite as cool of a story I guess

I fly maybe a half-dozen times a year and I have been delayed twice in the last ten years due to someone suffering an injury on a plane at the gate. Both were from lifting their bag into the overhead bin. Another guy walked full speed into an open overhead bin, but sat down quickly and covered his bleeding head with a cap so that we could take off on time (Some hero's dont wear capes but trucker hats)

I would assume no less than a dozen people required/requested medical attention after going down the slide.

Video plus commentary of what he thought would be a routine takeoff except for the snowblow.

I did not like the way he used the word “abortion” while he was offering his commentary.

I bet they were glad to be able to stand in the snow, given the alternative

Pics I’ve seen looks like a couple probably. I’m back in ATL now and it looks like a solid 2-3+ in most areas, with rain falling now. Gonna be a shite show tomorrow morning.

Flew out of Asheville yesterday departing at 0600 headed home. Originally scheduled to leave there at 1330, moved up to beat the Southern US winter storms. Had to do additional de-icing on the tarmac which took about 30 minutes. Connected in ATL and beat the weather in. Original flight got airborne from ATL

Flew out of Asheville yesterday departing at 0600 headed home. Wind chill was 5F yesterday in the AM. Originally scheduled to leave there at 1330, moved up to beat the Southern US winter storms. Had to do additional de-icing on the tarmac which took about 30 minutes. Connected in ATL and beat the weather in. Original flight got airborne from ATL and had to turn back around to ATL. We got really lucky.

Could the snow somehow cause a fire? I don’t know anything about turbofan engines.

Can’t imagine it could “cause” a fire.

However, did they ever confirm there actually was a fire? Thought it was for an indicator light, but never heard if they found anything

I see a crewman said he saw fire on a second look when they rolled up. Still haven’t seen it confirmed

Same here. I don’t think I have ever heard abortion substituted for aborted or rejected in that situation.
Reminds me of the time one of these guys describing a steep decent as a safety dive. Say what?
