They’re the coolest thing and I think science has not scratched the surface of their uses.

Is it possible that physicist, mathematicians, astronomers, engineers, etc. have been just making shite up for hundreds of years, all while publishing their research for scrutiny, while coordinating across social and political borders to make sure that all their made up shite aligns with each other, silencing any would be scientists who happen to study the field and discover the truth, and making sure that none of their group steps out of line to expose them? Is all of that possible?

Sure, it is possible. But it is also possible that Emma Watson is going to knock on my front door in five seconds and offer me the kind sex that would get us stoned in the Middle East ...

Which is why I always question people when they state anything about the universe as "fact".

Science is fact until it isn't.

Which I'd be fine with. But people just state things as 100% irrefutable, and chalk it up to science.

No one is stating anything as irrefutable, that’s the whole point is that it can be refuted. But it’s not just pulled out of their arse either.

Think of it like a balloon being blown up. As you put air in it, everything on the surface expands away from every other point equally (except it happens in 3 dimensions instead of two like on a balloon). However, if you stand on any planet or star it might appear to YOU that you are at the center. But any other observer on any other star would come to the same conclusion. A lot of people have a hard time with this concept.

Which is why I hate the line of reasoning that says...

We are quite literally less than a grain of salt on the biggest beach when it comes to the universe.

What the frick’s anybody else got that we don’t have?

frick them, and their beach.

What you did there, I saw it.

Personally I don’t see the attraction.

Or it could be kind of repulsive when you think about it.

What are the odds that everything in this universe came from a tiny spec that blew up? The big bang is such bullshite.

Likely?
Everything came from the same spot, how else did the matter in our galaxy/solar system form? 4.3b solar system, I'm sure there are much older systems around us

It really is interesting the amount of hubris it takes to say something like "because I can't understand it that means it's impossible."
