meh.....I feel this is akin to having this same graph following the slide rule...
100% of complex math done was used using a slide rule..
come the 1970's and slide rules immediately approaches zero and the calculator approaches 100%.
come 1990-2000's the computer (excel/mathcad) takes 90% of that away from calculators.

quote:no... i believes its the cultural acceptance of divorce is the main player here.
Is this why the divorce rate is so much higher nowadays?
before the 70s, you got divorced as a woman... good luck finding anyone else.

How could they obtain the data for this?
Looking at who the author of the post is, he probably scraped it off the internet somewhere just to create a cool graphic.

The divorce rate is down, actually, but so is the marriage rate, and by a lot.
People are cohabiting without marriage more, so it doesn’t count as a divorce when the breakup, even if they have kids.

If more people met through like-minded friends and family today, the divorce rate would be dramatically lower.

I wonder how exactly they come up with these figures.
I met my wife in college, but through a friend. So did I meet her through college or through a friend?
If your neighbor introduces you to your future wife after mass ends, did you meet through church or through your neighbor?

Maybe, but less and less guys are going to college every year. It’s around 60-40 split now and not improving.

All those online nudes doing work.
The mental health of grandma & grandpa in the future, having to explain to their grandkids, who will have seen, why the butt plugs were primary colors back in 2026, will be its own chart.

Less person to person contact prior to dating. Just seems impersonal and why marriages/LTRs are increasingly disposable.

If it was in a bar at college does that count? (Freds?)

No idea how they come up with it but almost every chick I dated at LSU was introduced by a friend or met randomly, not in my engineering classes

I can happily say that I’ve never been on a dating app.
I’ve seen plenty of first dates while dining in major cities that had to have been initiated via a dating app and it looks awful.

Mine was on the school bus. Nobody would give me a seat. RIP Jenny.

My wife and I went to high school together, although we didn't really interact back in those days because she's 3 years younger than me. Despite that we went to a really small school so we both knew OF each other.
15 years later I'm attending church with my mom and other family members, when I see her a couple pews back and recognize her - attending alone. She had gone from mildly attractive in high school to an under the radar hottie, the best kind.
I guess God spoke out to me and told me to go sit with this beautiful lonely woman that I used to know so she wouldn't be alone, and we struck up a small conversation. I couldn't get her off my mind and a couple days later I found her on Facebook and asked her if she'd like to go on a date sometime after numerous messages back and forth catching up.
Our first date was in a bar/restaurant a couple blocks away from her apartment. It went extremely well and felt so natural, I literally knew she was "the one" right then. Neither of us even made it home before calling and saying we want to see each other again soon.
So I'm not sure what box you'd check when it came to "how we met." You could say school technically, or church technically, or online technically, or bar/restaurant.

met my wife via a girl I've known 20+ years - grew up down the street from me. She and my now wife are coworkers and she basically said hey you need to meet this girl and the rest was history. Together 5 years now.

My wife grew up across the street from me. She was cute and I didn’t have a car. 25 years later and still together with better transportation.

College isn't what it used to be. These kids don't talk to each other anymore.
