I would think a professional hit man would have better contacts for this type of question than the OT Lounge.

Big steel pole in concrete with a mailbox on top. It'll at least mess up their vehicle

Guy here in town did that due to his mailbox getting destroyed frequently and had to go to court because a lady was driving and had a seizure and hit his mailbox. I'm not sure what ever came of it but had to go in front at a judge since his mailbox didn't "give" .

Get a solid metal pole, sink it in a big ole pile of concrete, and wrap it in some 1/4” wood. If a car hits it, the car will probably still be there when you go check it out. If you think it’s more personal, get a game camera and put it on one of the trees, it’ll take a picture of any movement.

Yeah, there’s some shite law about that I believe. Buddy lived on a corner lot and got tired of people cutting through on game day so he tried to hire a GC to put in a line of 8x8 posts and he gave up after a few of them refused to do it because they said they and he would be liable if someone hit them.

Most cities, towns, counties, etc. have laws or guidelines governing mailboxes. They have the right to do that because usually the strip of property the mailbox is on doesn't belong to the homeowner, it is a right-of-way or similar. They can dictate what type of mailbox you have, as well as what else you can or can't put on the side of the road. Most say that the mailbox cannot be a permanent structure and must be breakaway and not set in concrete. Before I put up anything permanent (like the big brick mailboxes some people have) I'd make damn sure I couldn't be held liable if someone hits it and is seriously injured or killed.

I know of entire neighborhoods that had to change out their fancy brick mailboxes because of these type laws.

Honestly, I am owed a few visits to my mailbox, as my youthful indiscretions should bring some karma.

M-80's, bats, and vehicles were instruments of mayhem on the country roads.

I won't even be mad. I expect it to happen at some point.

The question is, are you owed any mailbox visits?

Excuse the crude image, It's taken off of Google Maps street view.

I see this mailbox every Sunday morning on my way to church and your thread reminded me of it.

That red arrow is pointing to the mailbox. It is a 12" diameter concrete pillar wrapped in bright yellow padding with four recessed cameras and multiple reflectors.

Also take note of the three reflector crosses leading to the mailbox.

I'd do something like this...

8-10 times and your mailbox is over a football field away from the road? Just bad luck, it probably won’t happen again.

Put a cup of paint on top of mailbox or inside mail box. You will know who is hitting it.

Spend the money and build a brick mailbox. That way if they hit it again, you'll know who it is due to the massive amount of damage to their vehicle.

4" metal pipe set in concrete and filled with concrete. It want stop them from hitting it but it exact a certain amount of revenge.

This is not me being a smartass. Had the same problem and it was what we did.

Still got hit again but I took a small measure of pleasure knowing they had to frick up their truck pretty good.

Gramercy, Louisiana is the site of 13 mail box takedowns for a relative of mine. No kidding! And, not one driver stopped to fess up. The 13 mail box assaults took place over a 3 year period.

Fortify your mailbox with steel pipe in concrete. Enclose the box in concrete as well. It'll still get ruined but will really eff up a car.

I’ve lived here since 2002 and in that time frame my mailbox has been hit 8-10 times. Not once has the perp come to notify us. I probably have $2k or more in mailboxes & repairs. Over 100 yards off the road and there are a lot of trees between my house and the road.
what in the world is going on here?
