I like writing, so I’m thinking about getting a job as a writer or an editor for a magazine or a newspaper.

I made a kid once memorize the “Let it Go” song from frozen and sing it in front of the class. He was more of an awkward geeky kid, so it made it funnier
Why not make him memorize and recite something better and more constructive like parts of The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock by Eliot?

Well, my philosophy when it comes to things like that is if you’re going to waste my time by being on your phone in class after I’ve warned you, I’m gonna waste yours

No, too much of a risk.

Mmmm. It sounds like you have thought about it.. Your answer suggest you have thought about it, but you have come to the conclusion it isn't worth the risk.

You don’t sound like a prick nor jaded so props to you.

My question: in your school, how much do politics play a role. Not R/D politics but internal politics.

Sports provide millions of jobs, and there is no lack of interest in them; but we don’t make them required courses. Far more people make money OUTSIDE of art and music than in them. It is also far more important to teach students skills important for every day life no matter what the career choice than to teach them who painted Starry Night.

I have no problem with art, but just think it should be an elective.

Cool, you're a teacher

So why don't you realize that by saying NOR will NOT ever consider hooking up with a student. Means that you will indeed consider hooking up with a student due to the double negative.

You started this thread as a first year teacher. Nuggets of wisdom in these answers.

Now, you see me after class.

You’ll make less than you make as a teacher.
