I would love to meet you irl and hear some of your stories. My family has been in St. Amant for well over 100 years. I've heard a lot of stories courtesy of my father. I have been in diaspora in Baton Rouge for too long due to school (first undergrad and now law school). I barely recognize the home I left in 2009. I voted for Cointmont, and knew this would be the result when Matassa won. This parish needs an enema. The corruption on the west bank must be pulled up by the roots, and the good ol' boys on the east can only do so much. Prarieville will be the key going forward. They need to understand how we got here. They need to understand where we need to go.

Our road problems go back at least to the 90's when Juba Diez was a bigwig in state government and his buddy Tommy Martinez lost the election for Parish President when AP switched from a police jury system. Juba had the influence at DOTD to put AP on the top of the priority list for infrastructure improvements, but Tommy didn't want his opponent to be able to take credit for those improvements when he would have to run for reelection 4 years later against Tommy. This was at the beginning of the major migration into the Parish.

So, for 4 years, AP projects at DOTD were on the bottom of the list. However, Tommy didn't win 4 years later, nor the 4 years after that. By the time Tommy did win, 12 years after that first election, Juba Diez was gone. AP had been at the bottom of the list for 12 years and no longer had the influence to get bumped up. Because of that, we had virtually 16 years of zero infrastructure projects on our state highways during the time of bear unprecidented growth for any parish in Louisiana over a similar time frame.

Matassa is a part of that same corrupt D-ville club that all branch from the Marcello crime family tree. Hell, Matassa is a relative! The mob runs AP, and until we can unite the east against the corruption in the west, no change will ever happen.

The tax dollars have been there, the political will has not been.

Cointmont was old ascension, but he wasn't in the corrupt club. He was a young challenger. Loar was marketed as a young reformer, but he was groomed by the old club. You could tell because his "Master Plan" was identical to that which Tommy had been hawking.

Cointmont was the right choice, and what's going down now proves it once and for all.

I remember my dad bitching about this guy almost a decade ago about the same subject. We've come full circle.

Oh and frick Tommy Martinez. Always felt he was a self serving prick.

What about Gonzales? Aren't Prairieville and St. Amant getting trouble from the NIMBYs and asshats there too?

Any chance we can get Clint another shot if this goes down with matassa or do we have to wait until 2019?

It's time for all these old corrupt tPOS from the western part of the Parish and Gonzales to get out.

They are all self serving incompetent losers who live in their own world totally removed from reality.

Ascension Parish should be light years ahead of where it is now due to having banks on both sides of the river and being located between Baton Rouge and New Orleans but it's been held back by its crooked and corrupt politicians. I'm shocked there are as many chemical plants as there are in the AP with all the BS they have to put up with.

frick Kenny and frick his son what he did to that dog.

Matassa was on the Gonzales city council, so a little. The issue in Gonzales isn't NIMBY's, it's the opposite. The white councilmen own most of the undeveloped land in the city limits. They want to push the developments that will make them money. The black councilmen want the developments to help their neighborhoods. The mayor is a weak politician who's basically just a nIce guy who doesn't understand what's going on. Generally, the black councilmen are used as pawns by different members of the council to block developments that would benefit their rivals.

In the mean time, Gary Lacombe tried to bring to light that all the massive sales tax revenue had been siphoned off by development districts leaving the city with next to nothing. He started opposing unnecessary spending (like replacing relatively new police cruisers) and ended up on the wrong side of everyone on the council. It really is a bit of a shite show, but nothing compared to the insane political soap opera that is Sorrento. Seriously, the stories that come out of there would make the best political black comedy series of all time.

I'm not sure on the details as to whether their would be a protocal for a new election or whether the political will for one would exist on the parish council. We may have to wait until 2019, but I hope not.

I remember that story. A lot of shenanigans went down and it was good for a few depressing shakes of the head.

Didn't his opponents use the think of the children strategy with playgrounds and bullshite like that?

Probably the best thing Sorrento has done in the last few years was get rid of their toxic and unnecessary police department. It was spiraling out of control with the stupid bum frick chief diddling drunk women and beat cops cooking the books on tickets. Thank god the council and voters made the right decision to get rid of the department. It would be a full blown embarrassment and eye sore by now.

Cost of their new contract with the Sheriff's Office is half of what it cost to operate their own department but of course the extra money is probably being used for things that are obviously not worthy of tax money.

Don't forget the imprisoned long-time mayor's son winning the election before being imprisoned for kiddy porn, the councilman who embezzled city money to buy a cigar boat, you know, same old same old.

The guy thinking Prairieville is Mecca, please remember to take your shitty parts (there are many) with you when you secede.
And good luck with your tax base when the Plants are not a part of it.

Oh, and frick Martinez, too.

That's why we need Geismar to combine with Prairieville before incorporating.

He took office in January. And it was 115 votes. The west bank put him in office.
