Two, I’m on the younger side tho and I call my current home my forever home. Probably bought too much house but I am not convinced that nice houses in the neighborhood we wanted will ever be affordable again so bought right before the interest rate rise in 2022 and just staying put my whole life.

I'm 75, we're in our 4th house, owned no. 2 and 3 outright, when I bought the house we're in now, the interest rate was 2.65%, I figured it would be dumb at my age, 66 at the time, not to get a mortgage and get all that nice liquid cash. I walked away from the closing with $300K on a house worth $750K, and a small note. Like winning the lottery.

Yep. It is almost like free money. I have about 3 years left on a 2.875% mortgage and I'm in no hurry to pay it off. My money is better spent elseswhere.

real estate is where "normal people" can get wealthy, or at least very comfortable

One house for me, refinanced in 2020 to get my rate down to 2.75% on a 30 year. No clue if we’ll stay forever, but it’s big enough for us to grow into and in a good neighborhood. Don’t really see us moving unless something drastic happens with our finances, or if rates get down below 4 again.

This is my second house. Tuned 64 this month and this is my last house. It’s paid for in a decent area.

For primary residence, 4. The number goes up when you factor in rental properties. 7 would be the number with rentals.

I've owned 4. You're overthinking this.
