I've never outright owned a home, but I have shared custody with a bank on two homes.

Two homes and a townhouse. Sold the 1st one in Watson after about 5 years. Bought a townhouse that I sold after about 3 years post Katrina. Purchased my current home in BR about 16 years ago and paid it off earlier this year. All goes as planned this will be the last one.

moved around a lot for work so consequently have never considered any house my "final resting place," so I've learned a lot about real estate, finance, (already had a strong construction/engineering background,) starting to think about that now, I've owned quite a few, flipped a few, I enjoy moving real estate around

I own my house and the best part is there is no mortgage company signing off on insurance claims.

If we move a 3rd time hopefully we'll be able to pay mostly cash or have a very small 10 yr mortgage or something like that, if that term even exists.

Just 1

Bought in 2005 for 150k...was also paying 700 a mo for a work apartment in another city. Wasn't sure how I was going to financially make it. But I did and sold it in 2021 with it only being on the market for 24 hours(cash offer) made out like a bandit.

Still miss the place

Yes, all me, and only me. And that's perfectly okay with me, too.

Twice, the first still has about 10 years left on a 30 year mortgage but it pays for itself. The other we live in and it’s paid off.

In my 6th; 71 years old. Told the wife ( no pics) that my next move will be on a stretcher under the purple velvet blanket.

I have "bought" 6 homes in 5 cities (mostly job promos) and upgraded each time using appreciation to put more and more down payment/equity. Finally, the one I am in now is the only one "I own" outright. Not having a mortgage is one of life's greater pleasures.

lost my sister a couple of months ago, terminal cancer, to play the insurance game she had to go to the hospital for about a week before going to hospice, when she was being discharged the nurse asked her where she was going, she said my next stop will be "......." cemetery

I've only owned 2 homes as well. I'm 65 and we've been in our current home since 1993.

My plan is to get a second home in Fairhope, keep this place, and split time between BR and Fairhope for a while. I need a place in BR for LSU baseball, etc.

At some point we'll sell this place and downsize to cash out, but keep a place here.
