This might be one of the more serious threads I've seen on the OT.

You may be depressed I thought back on old times a lot and I'm 35, made me kinda sad. I also went through a year period where I lost two best friends, and an older cousin to natural causes or otherwise. Just earlier this summer I was drinking heavily, was having horrible nightmares and thought it was never going to end. Believe it or not I honestly seriously called on God and reinforced my life with Jesus and believed he would help me and I don't have these problems anymore. He can do it for you also. Just take it a day at a time. Good luck

Dwelling on something like this is a form of depression my man. Pretty much anything going on in your mind that lowers the excitement in your life is depression. I had thoughts like that even in my 20s.

The combination of medication, exercise and spending more time outdoors has helped me so much.

You'll get through it

See a doctor, you might have low testosterone. I was about 40 when my energy level dropped significantly. I wasn't "sad" but was definitely more down than up, just felt exhausted all the time. Went to my Dr, found out my testosterone levels were low, and started getting shots. It was an absolute 180. I had energy, emotions were normal, I was happy with life and motivated to be active -- I highly recommend it for any middle-aged male who has concerns. The fact that you care enough to want to fix it is most important, most guys would rather ignore it, or just pretend there is no problem.

I guess what I meant is I wouldn't necessarily call it clinical depression. It may be for some people, but when I had clinical depression, there were entire weekends I would barely get out of the bed. I'd go weeks with little to no contact with friends/family(this was before cell phones were so ubiquitous). So it's not entirely a crisis, just being more easily triggered by things and having emotional reactions to them. It happens maybe once or twice a week, and really doesn't heavily impact my day-to-day life, nor send me into multiple day crises.

This is what's going on with me exactly. I have no problems with day to day life, going to bed. Getting out of bed. Just stupid little shite that will trigger an episode that I know shouldn't.

Just embrace it as the new you. I think it's common, but generations of men before us never really talked about it and just called it a mid-life crisis. I don't even fight the tears anymore.

there is the problem brother! All men have declining test levels, either see your doctor or (as i do) do it yourself.. weekly test injections. Get your manhood back right. As your test levels decline, estrogen levels rise.
It's whats happening.

Sorry I was late on this one, but kept meaning to reply to you when I read the title. The Killer always makes the best sense at one time in everyone's life. You will get past it.

The alcohol is only going to make it worse.
