Art painting classes in BR

Anyone have recommendations for art painting classes in the BR area?
Not talking about the "night out" events where you paint a single painting while sipping wine and that's it. I mean a structured series of classes that take you through the basics and work your way up to more complex paintings.

Nope, no talent yet. Just thought it would be interesting to learn.
Either one actually. I really don't know the difference. Perhaps that's a good thing for the class to cover.

Is this a sketchy way of asking posters to pose nude for you?

My non-gay father takes lessons in Port Allen. Doing a quick search I see Gail Ruth Fine Art provides on-going art lessons.

Am I the only one that finds "art painting" funny?
How do you get the art to keep still while you paint it?

If you just say "painting" then some people will take it as the profession.

I would ask at Mo's art supply on Jefferson. I have seen them doing classes at Hobby Lobby in the back of the store. You need to learn some basic drawing skills first like perspective and shading etc. I would start with acrylics because they are cheap and dry fast so mistakes can be corrected. Easy cleanup too. I've been painting for 45 years off and on. I can answer questions if you need. Good luck.

What kind of painting, oil, acrylic, watercolor? Gimme a few, I’m thinking. Will post back when the lightbulb goes off.

I remembered: Art Guild of Louisiana. They are in BR and have classes. Would be a good starting point for you. I started getting into painting about 25 years ago and love it, 99% of my work is junk, 1% maybe a keeper, but it is so much fun!!! Best wishes.

My wife takes an art class at Baton Rouge Fine Arts Academy on Coursey. I think Larry Casso is the teacher.

I can't believe that guy is still teaching. I took classes with him around 1974 for several years.
