I've been spending most of my time at Spanish Moon lately. I like the punk and funk shows and my friends like to go sometimes for 80's Night.

I only wish the story had more details on how the guy was struck with the car. Was it a decleater? I'd like to think it was.

I am curious to know if they drove over him a few times just for good measure...I suppose not, because he still had a little life in him when he was transported to hospital.

My problem with the music is that it is usually a level where I can't even hear it.

Definitely an issue when the bar is slammed. I haven't noticed it being an issue most nights.

I've been to Moon a good bit lately too. Bootywerk on Hawlloween.. and did 80s Night on Thanksgiving. I used to go to every 80s Night (when it was weekly), so I'm glad they brought it back at least for this once a month they're doing it.

I like funk shows too. I've been going to Varsity a lot lately. A couple friends bartend there, and a couple friends live next door, so we try to hit a lot of the shows.

There's an interesting group there tonight, but not gonna make it.

There is a zero chance we don't know each other in real life, as I have long suspected based on your postings

With that said, I have no idea who you are.

I didn't go to Bootywerk, but I did go to 80's Night with Circa Amore and that Burris/Captain Green Halloween show.

There's more than one of you assholes that I think the same thing about. I don't want to know for sure, though, because I'd think less of my IRL friends if I knew they were stupid enough to post here, too.

Did they bring this back? I thought they stopped doing this years ago. I haven't lived in BR in about 4 years though. Always loved the Moon.

They still do it sporadically. Always a good time.

The only way I would own a bar is if I could put a few video poker machines in there. Those things bring in a lot of coin to bar owners in Nola and Jp.

It's ok, I don't think much of myself IRL anyways

You seem to be out a lot, and I am too, so I would be we know each other. At the least, have a lot of mutual friends.

It isn't the same person who started it doing it anymore, but they do it once monthly now.

Moon was recently bought by the owner of Republic in NOLA, and while they did say they do not plan to change it much, they do seem to intend to make it more of a music venue and less of a "bar" so I guess we will see if 80s Night makes the cut.

I'm very concerned about the potential changes. I don't really like the Republic New Orleans that much.

I've heard rumors that the Moon's current management are going to try to open "The Spanish Moon" somewhere else.

As douchetacular as Club 1913 is, they are converting it to be a real music venue with Draft House closed. Huey's is supposed to receive the taps from Draft House.

I've heard good things about Baton Rouge Music Exchange's new venue space. I'm looking forward to checking it out in a couple weeks when they have Loudness War and Alex Abel among others playing.

With the road diet coming, the hipsters couldn’t have reached the velocity needed to make the bad guy go splat in the new configuration. #stopwastingmytaxdollars

Every robbery is different. I had two guys with guns on me and so if I had been armed it wouldve been difficult to take them both out.

Definitely. Thats a hard one when youre faced with multiple armed assailants.

At close ranges, hell yeah. Knifes are more intuitive.

See, I would be nervous about that move. Might piss them off and they pop you out of general principal.

Damn dude. I hope you appreciate every second of the rest of your life. You are one lucky SOB.

This is always the way I remember Spanish Moon. They had live music at least 3-4 nights a week and 80s night every Thursday. I would go there fairly regularly from about 2009-2012

Venue sucks but they get great acts through WinterCircle. Moon is about to be back on the map
