Huh?

He thinks you all out West couldn't possibly have regular air conditioners that could keep a place cool when it is 115° outside, but he doesn't really understand that cooling that ridiculously dry 115° air is easier than cooling the ringing wet 98° air in the Southeast.

At least in Arizona there are cool escapes to the mountains a short distance from most any desert location. I've seen snow mid-July in the White Mountains of Arizona

You go to Frey"s, best bring a hoodie, even in August.

Not much AZ experience work wise. I’ve relocated to TX panhandle, aside from some moisture in my boots, haven’t had a drop of sweat. Flew home two days ago and was sweating before I got to parking garage

I was stationed in the Mojave for 2 years (USMC). I came back to SELA during the summer and early fall. It would be 100 - 110+ there and 90-97 here. When I walked out of the airport in Louisiana, I thought I was going to die.

Having grown up in the south and living out west for close to 25 years, here's the difference. In the west with its low humidity, shade makes a huge difference. Also in the west it generally cools off at night. The humidity in the south holds the heat in the air.

That was amazing to me my first few nights in the desert.

I spent five years in New Mexico. Give me the dry heat all day. You just have to make sure you drink, because the sweat evaporates so quickly you don't realize just how much you're losing.
