Do you get swamp arse in dry heat? If not, I might consider it.

The heat in Louisiana isn’t that bad to be honest. If you spend a lot of time outside you’ll get used to it by mid June.

It's not bad if you're not fat and drink plenty of water.

For those who have been to AZ, how would you compare it?
Have you really not been to the Desert SW?

I remember the first time I landed in Phoenix in the summer for vacation, and back then you exited the plane outside, and when that heat hit me it was like a convection oven. Traveled up to Flagstaff to visit family and totally different climate. I could live there in a second, but Phoenix, Tucson, Scottsdale and the like where other family and friends of mine reside, it would take some adjustment. Like someone else said, you can get dehydrated quick there, and because or the evaporative effect of sweat. You don’t even realize it is happening.

Waking up at noon in Las Vegas with a hangover from hell, and walking outside to 112 degrees has to rank up there in the suck meter.

You're lying if you don't think dry heat is a more comfortable environment. Peak summer heat is worse in Louisiana.
I agree 1000%. Only issue with dry heat is it sucking the moisture right out of you.

People say it’s dry heat but the heat sucks the energy right out of you. I hiked the Grand Canyon in 2021 and yes, it hits hard!

Not even close. Louisiana

I've been in Vegas when it was around 112. It still sucks

It feels better in Arizona since you don’t sweat like a pig. You get dried out quickly though. It feels like a different heat too. As if its more intense which I would assume is due to lack of humidity blocking some of the rays.

The crazy thing about Arizona is that all those homes and buildingsare stucco or stone…and when it’s 115 during the day, you can still feel the heat radiating off the buildings for a couple hours after the sun goes down.

I was in Colorado during a heatwave. It got up to about 102. Not Arizona hot, but still, hot. The strangest thing happened though... I was sweating, I stood in the shade, and the wind cooled be down.
That shite doesn't happen in Louisiana.

I’ve experienced 114 with 0 humidity in a desert. My skin was sizzling but I wasn’t sweating. 98 with humidity is bad in a different way. Air is heavy. Sweat a lot. I’ll pass on both options, sir.
During the monsoon we get 98 with humidity, But at least during the monsoon season we can look forward to clouds rolling in and the hope for a bit of rain.
Summer is no joke in Phoenix - the quote goes “Phoenicians live in constant psychological management of heat. Summer is always either here or it’s coming”. That is for real. Typically in March people start commenting “It’s coming…” There is a kind of PTSD about summer, which can last until November with highs in the 90s until then. And then when the rest of the country is frozen we celebrate like idiots and then during the first few days of warm weather shite gets real again. First day of 110+ temps and people act like they’ve never experienced it before. But it’s just because we block out how awful the summer was was to deal with it until the heat rolls around again.
Wife and I spend most of the year in Idaho now and I don’t dread the winter here like summers in Phoenix. shite, if anything I look forward to being able to ski all season. Spend a summer it Phoenix, it will leave an impression on you.

quote:Nah. It was 100 degrees today and I walked the 2 miles to work and didn't break a sweat minus a little dampness on my forehead. Last time I visited my mom in Florida it was April and around 90 and I couldn't walk from my car into the grocery store without breaking a sweat..
Doesn’t matter how “dry” your 108 degree day is. Once the temp is past 100 it’s all the same and it’s all miserable

I lived in El Paso for a couple of years. Stayed above 115 for over a week. And it was hot. But it doesn't compare to Louisiana 100 degrees with the humidity. Most houses there didn't have ac. They had evaporated coolers on the roof that made it 20 degrees cooler than outside.

Always hated packing for Arizona for a golf trip in February - March. It would be 75-85 degrees during the day but you better change because once that sun went down it was like 40-45 degrees going out in old town Scottsdale.

Lived in Phoenix for about a year. Low humidity 110’s is worse than 90s with high humidity IMO.

I have been to Vegas in the summer when it was well over 100 degrees. One time I was there on business and was walking around downtown in a suit and not even sweating. I remember asking someone what the humidity level was. I thought they said 50% and replied that 50% was not bad. They said, "no not 50, I said 15%". New Orleans heat and humidity is worse.
